Gas Station Finder

We will be taking our first trip where we will need to fuel up while hauling our 37' travel trailer. I am assuming truck stops are the way to go? Is there an app to find gas stations to accommodate campers? All advice welcome!

We use Gas Buddy app. Sometimes there is even a picture. Truck stops are more expensive but less hassle.

I like the Poynt App for best fuel prices and MSN auto fuel on my desktop for planning fuel stops on a trip.

I use an iPad app called Truck and RV Fuel Stations, and another app called iExit.

Gas Buddy for the best prices, just remember that 99%+ of all gas stations have large double tanker trucks pulling into them to refill their tanks. The idea that you need to go to a truck stop is simply not so in most cases.

Happy Campy,

Is the truck you'll be towing with a diesel? If not, a truck stop may not be much benefit because the truck lanes only have diesel. Not only that, but the diesel pumps at truck stops are usually high-volume pumps, which may be too much for a pickup.

For gas, you'll have to go through the regular auto lanes. The auto lanes at some truck stops may be a little more spacious than at other gas stations, but many are not. I have found Love's are usually fairly easy to navigate the auto pumps.

Most Flying J stations have RV lanes which have both gas and diesel. Beyond that, I use Gas Buddy to locate stations and get prices. I then use Google Maps to get an overhead view and/or street view to pick fueling stops in advance.

fuel

Just thought I would throw this out. Flying j/Pilot if you sign up you can get an Rv discount card for .03 per gallon for gas. Hope this helps. Welcome we are new to the forum also. Have a safe trip.

Since Flying J is switching over to Biodiesel they may not be a good choice for many of us.

In the order that I use for checking fuel prices are:
Trucker Apps - DAT - My DAT Trucker Services has fuel prices, truck stops, rest areas and Walmarts
GasBuddy.com - GasBuddy Mobile Applications - Gas Buddy, just remember that the updates are from people that use the app. Some may not be updated often
Love's Connect - Love's Trucker stop app
Pilot Flying J - Pilot/Flying J truck stop app

Yes I do check all of them while on the road for the best prices and locations to get into and out of.

When using gasbuddy on your phone it list in min and hours how long ago the price was updated.
