Can anyone tell me how the gas supply is in the western Carolinas? Jo and I are/were planning to hit the NASCAR garages on the way down to Myrtle Beach. If a problem we will change directions and head east to TT in Glenns Va for a few days.

TIA

Lee

SW NC - Franklin NC (intersection of Hwy 441 & Hwy 64)

We do have gas. Just not at all gas stations at the same time. Hot Spot (which has it's own trucks and usually the cheapest & worst gas) is hit & miss on gas. Yesterday they didn't have gas... this morning they did. Yet Mountain Energy (Shell) on Hwy 441S has yet to run out of gas. Today it was $3.989 to $3.999. Shell is usually the highest price in town. Although for the past few weeks, they have been running the same as everyone else. Since we are staying very close to home, I can't tell you how prices are running just across the state line in GA. My daughter headed back to Houston the Sunday after the hurricane hit. We told her to fill a 5 gallon can of gas and to not use it unless she couldn't find gas. She had no problem with fuel. But she was also driving a Saturn that sips gas. I'm still tryng to figure out just why we let her take that car back instead of us keeping it!

We do have gas here. It's just finding it. Don't let yourself get too low on fuel and don't think you have the luxury of shopping for a better price. Those "better" prices tend to be at gas stations that have no fuel. Allow time for the lines. A few places are limiting the amount you can buy.

Here in Waynesville, NC (~30 mi W of Asheville), some stations have no gas or diesel. But most stations have various combinations of gas/diesel. A few have the whole enchilada. Prices for gas vary between 3.95 to 3.84. I think diesel is about 4.00 to 4.20.

www.gasbuddy.com may be of some help, price-wise.

I think we will head down 81 to 64 and spend a few days in Va rather than take a chance on running out of gas. Thanks for your help!!!!

We are near Lexington, NC (Greensboro-Winston Salem area) and every station has gas (diesel too). Prices run from $3.77 (Walmart) to $3.99.

We had the rig out over the weekend and there was no problem with gas or diesel in middle Tennessee as far east as knoxville. In fact, the diesel prices are not too far over the price of gas.

DW was out and about today and reported most of the stations had their gas pump nozzles bagged. The only ones with gas were the Citgos. Some apparently were restocked late this afternoon.

There seems to be adequate supplies here, local Walmart 15 mi north of here (over the state line in TN) has it for #3.699. Other stations range around $3.80 + or - a little.
