We had a short E-350 and now have a longer E-450 Ford gas. No diesel option in the bigger motorhomes so no issue.

In the short one's some folks like the Sprinter cab better. I fit the Ford so it is a non issue.

We looked at a lot of Sprinter based units over the years. Never found one where the house felt right. I suspect it is because many are a bit narrower than the Ford's and the aspect ratio is off normal. We wanted bigger anyway to get better livability. It's hard to nap when one wants to watch television. BTDT.

Service wise Ford Truck centers are very common as are independent shops who can work on a Ford. Usually lower shop rates than diesel mechanics. Especially in the boonies. Fewer things to break anyway compared to a diesel engine with a turbo. Significantly cheaper drive train if the worst happens.

The diesel has a fuel economy advantage of around 7 mpg in the sizes that compete. That comes at a fairly stiff upcharge that cancels out the fuel cost issue unless you are planning on way more than the average miles per year. I think that leaves total cost of ownership better for the Ford gas. You do get diesel bragging rights. That and a quarter won't get a cup of coffee anymore.

Ford chassis will usually haul more weight and do it well with the V-10. Short Chevy chassis are similar to the Ford but some folks like the cab better. Problem is that GM is not currently making chassis.
