Geico or Progressive
I am in the market for a new insurance company. I've had Allstate for years but their price is driving me out. I am looking at Geico and Progressive and have quotes from all. Same coverage Allstate $1800/yr, Progressive $500/yr Geico $670/yr
My question is to those who have Geico or Progressive and HAVE HAD A CLAIM what the results were and would you renew with your respective company based on claim results?

Had Progressive but dropped them when my premium went up the third year in a row. Had a good price when I started.

Why not get an independent agent who specializes in RV insurance??? They will represent several companies and you don't spend all that time getting quotes on what you THINK are same coverages. At least one is a sponsor here.

I had a claim with Progressive a couple of years ago when I backed into a mound of dirt and cracked my rear cap. $3600 repair and the claim was handled quickly and with no hassle. Rate hasn't gone up since and I still have all my discounts. No complaints here.

I had Geico on our autos. Had an accident (other guy's fault), and they were great to deal with. They fought for a year to get our $500.00 deductible back from the deadbeat who didn't have insurance. I thought we'd never see it, but we finally received a check. As posted above, we also have Hartford through AARP for our RV. They were lots cheaper than the others I checked out, and it includes roadside service. I just checked yesterday about their towing allowance as I've read on other posts that it can cost $900.00 or so and some people have only had a $300.00 or $400.00 allowance. They pay whatever it costs to have your RV towed. They also offer full-timer insurance if you ever need it. BUT....we haven't had a claim, so can't help you there.

Have had Geico for years and always been happy with them. Never had a major claim, but have had several minor ones (e.g. Window cracks and such) and claims service has been great. Everytime the insurance is up for renewal I shop around, but Geico is (so far) still the best value for us (we're fulltimers based in SD). They raised my rates once, but I called and complained and got them back down.

Progressive has been very good to me so far, and within the last year have had 3 claims which they paid very quickly with no questions ask.
At this point I don't think they've raised my rates.

Have Progressive with USAA. This is the first year I have had no increase. Each year I had to adjust my vanishing deductable to keep premiums down. No adjustments this year. I got a quote from Geico this year and they were not even close to progressive. So for now I will stay with them. No Claims.

I just had a fire which started in my tow vehicle going down I-70 with Progressive who insured my American Eagle. Once Progressive completed their insulting first and second questions, how much do I make per month and what my monthly expenses were; the claim went very quickly and I received my total efficiently. I highly recommend you look at an Independent Agent that represents Progressive and others, Gilbert RV Insurance specializes in RV insurance. Depending on age of your unit, having Agreed Value or Replacement coverage is really worth the few extra dollars of premium. Also make sure you schedule any towing equipment, tow bars, lube pumps, auxilliary braking systems ect. Good Luck!

We have Nationwide insurance - it is the least expensive we found - $367 per year. I got a price from AllState and it was around $650 per year - also got a price from Good Sams and that wasn't any better.

If you qualify for the old guy rates, AARP/The Hartford can't be beat.
