Gel Coat Peeling off 2005 Damon

Hi, am a new member and am in need of help. Can anyone provide names of Paint Shops to repaint side of Damon in Arizona, soth Cal. or Mexico.. Was not too bad when I bought it in Phoenix but once I hit cold wet weather it started peeling off much worse. Am recently retired and can't afford $ 5,000 paint job. Comments appreciated. Thanx Ron

If it's gel coat peeling off you need a good fiberglass shop to reapply gel coat. If you just need paint and $$ is tight then consider using Interlux Yacht paint and DIY.

Forgive me for quibbling on terminology, but I doubt if the gel coat is peeling. Gel coat is solid fiberglass and doesn't "peel". I suspect what you are seeing is a peeling clear coat finish that was applied over the fiberglass, and that fiberglass was mostly likely filon or similar sheet product rather than gel coat. Usually only the front and rear caps and maybe a few trim panels are molded fiberglass with a gel-coat surface.

Any automotive or boat paint shop could do the work, but a decent job is not going to be inexpensive.

Welcome! I can't recommmend anybody in your area, if it were in Oregon I know a shop I would highly recommend,] but don't know about cost. Make sure you find a shop that has big enough facilities to take RVs inside and knows how to deal with fiberglass finishes. Not every shop knows how to paint this stuff and it can cost you more to have somebody's mistake fixed in a year or two....
