The more I read about solor and inverters and all you need to buy to be totally generator free. It seems like I could run the generator a long long time before I spent on gas what the solor stuff costs. If I want real quiet power I carry a Honda 3000 and a long cord besides the built in onan.If I'm not plugged in anywhere, then I am way out in the boonies. No one to bother with my genset.

We too plan to attend our first Nascar race this spring. It is my understanding that generators are tolerated from say 7am until 11pm. I have also been told that if the weather is hot they really don't enforce the rule. I would imagine it varies from track to track.
As for the Genturi - check amazon as they are cheaper and offer free shipping.
As for not running a generator all night due to co2, I never have heard of that, but I profess not to know everything - Yet. :-)

I agree you can put a lot of money into solar & inverters. I paid $100 for our solar panel (used) to charge the batteries that I set beside the TT and clip onto the batteries. The inverter that I use for the TV and computer is about 300W that you can get @ Home Depot for about $35.

I've run my generator all night when I needed air conditioning. No problems.
Just be sure your detectors are working.

We haven't had a problem with fumes, if the gensets are all piped up top with Genturi's or similar products the breeze will very quickly dissipate any fumes.

The vents could be a problem and should be shut when the genset is running however the air units do not draw ourside air into the unit so that should not be a problem.

Just bought a Class C motorhome and new to having a generator. I would like to know how one uses the generator on a day-to-day basis when there is no shore power (like a Nascar race).
|
At most of the Nascar races we have been to generator use depends on the campground area. Infield camping is generally noisy all night and generator noise gets drowned out by the partys. Off track, especially at some of the "family" campgrounds generators are typically not run during quiet times. Definitely good advice here about fume avoidance and fume detectors.
If we are in a campground, we honor quiet times and also have measured noise output from our genny to comply with some park rules. We will, however, run the genny as needed during non quiet times. Once in a while, we will get a less than favorable look from someone who obviously feels generator usage is tantamount to dancing with the devil, but as long as the rules allow we do what we wish to be comfortable.

Hi first of all it is CO not CO2.
At PIR in AZ you are not allowed to run your gen very much, stated times only and it is monitored, the reason is not really the noise, but the CO (carbon monixide) levels get very high.
Have fun and enjoy your first NASCAR race, its a blast.

So when you build your Genturi, terminate the pipe 12-18 inches higher than the vents...

Tiffin which uses similar numbers to define the floor plan. My Phaeton is a TGH with the T meaning triple slide and the G & H describing the rest of the floor plan.

So, basically, in terms of electronics, they're "No names". Which adds a whole new degree of fun to warranty repairs and returns (Since they're not brands any regular electronics store is going to carry).
I think you just answered your question as to why most folks aren't buying 12 volt LCD sets.
Personally, I use a regular 19" flat screen and a magnavox up-converter DVD Player. I have switchable outlet system wired up in my rig that allows me to switch several outlets from the shore power connection to the inverter so I can watch TV off battery at night if I wish.
The generator mostly gets used to charge the battery, or run the a/c, or power the microwave or toaster during breakfast.
Can't run it all at the same time but I do rather well on 1200 watts of generator power.
