Generator help now please

Hello. I am new to the forum. Actually I found it while trying to figure out a problem.

I am in the middle of changing the oil in my Onan Marquis 5500 generator and ran into a problem. I drained the oil and swapped out the oil filter. I put in the first quart of oil without a problem. I got about half way through the second quart when it began overflowing out of the fill nozzle. WTHeck. I don't understand. I drained the oil until it was barely dripping. The motor home is leaning slightly toward the generator side which should aid in draining. Not sure why it would be so full. Please help.

Welcome to irv2. I had the same gen set and problem.
The second quart has to be put in very slowly. Have patience , most of it will go in.

Sounds like air pressure in the crankcase can't escape. Can you slip a very small (i.e. 1/8") copper or plastic tube down the fill tube as a vent?
