Getting Older sucks but life goes on

Spent a week camping with the wife. Lots of quality R&R but the steps in and out of the camper were starting to wear on us toward the end. I've been doing some research and found a product that looks interesting called Roll-A-Ramp. Anybody have experience with a portable ramp to help with the aging knees and back??

Just a couple of thoughts off the top of my head. I guess something could work. Personally, I like steps over a ramp, but if you have problems stepping up or down, then a ramp would be good. The problem I see with a ramp is doing down. If you are not careful, and the ramp steep you could get going too fast and fall.

I agree life gets harder as you age. I've had 19 surgeries since 2004, and am putting off a few more. Does anyone possibly make a lift?

Sounds pricey and not all that easy for the two of you to set up. Lots of lifting and bending.

Yeah it sucks! My knees hate our steps. Not much I can do about it, just keep doing it until I can't anymore.

Sad but true......the sell and buy a park model decision point will be based solely upon when I can’t fix.....handle.....take care of the coach anymore. “Not if, but when”

I had an appoint with my doctor a couple years ago, coming in with various aches, pains and other things. This was pre-Affordable Care Act and before I'm eligible for Medicare, and I was uninsured.

My doc looks at me and says "well, I could order a bunch of tests you can't afford and they'll probably come back negative, or you could just admit you're not 19 any more." Thanks, Doc, I'm painfully aware of that!

The CoachLift that @Frutza links to looks interesting. I'm not ready for such a product (hopefully I won't need it at all) but it's a great thing to know about. Any idea of approximate purchase and installation costs?

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I know the feeling. I would consider a powered lift.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

And the power it would use would require a F/U?

Some friends did have a lift installed on their MH. Not sure if they still even have it. She's been cancer free for years now.

We used a Burr Handy Lift on our TT for several years. It worked like a charm and was a relatively easy DIY project. It uses technology similar to an electric tongue lift and is designed specifically for your need.

https://www.mobile-lifts.com/handy-lift/

It's available in two models, 300# and 500# capacity. They're not cheap but are a quality product.

The standard model is currently on sale at Camping World for $2,300:

You may be able to find one on Craig's List if you're lucky. When I sold my TT I sold the lift on Craigslist for $900 in two days. We now have a motorhome with a wheelchair lift.
