Golf carts
I like Club car they have an aluminum frame not sure about the other brands. Ours is gas, don't have to worry about battery costs and maintenance and running low on charge. Some places may require electric because they are quieter?

Golf carts
Most places only let in electric carts in with insurance. I know my golf carts but just like any thing else people have there opinions.. I'm an ez-go guy yes club cart has aluminum frame but I don't care for them and there electronics. I have a 2010 txt pds cart 36 Volts 450amp controller upgraded wires and a 6Hp speed motor I top out at 34mph. If u can find a 48 volt go for it I got a deal one this one and Maybe will convert over which ever you chose Id make my decision between them to

We have one that we do not take with the MH. It is a 1998 EZ Go gas we bought in 2007. It has been fool proof. Added a rear seat, head, tail and brake lights. A few other small things. Love it for around the house and cruising the neighborhood. Technically not legal but it is a dead end street and many of us have them. It is the only one we have ever owned so this is just our experience.
I do know that as already said some places will not allow gas carts. I believe that was due to the noise of the old two stroke carts. The newer four strokes are nowhere near as loud but the ban lives on.

I get about 12MPH with the EZ GO. Keeps me out of trouble The governor is disconnected too.
I have read that some people are replacing the 14HP Robin engines with 24HP Hondas. Not me. Our friend has an old EZ GO 2 stroke that is a little faster but sure is noisy.

Are we talking golf carts for in a campground? Why do you need 'fast'?

I have a 2012 EZGO 48 Volt car which is great. We can play 2 rounds of 18 hole golf and still have a lot of battery left. We golf at least twice a week and the car is very reliable. The cart will go over 20MPH which is plenty fast. I also like when I stop the E brake is auto. I do not have to stomp the break down.

We have a 2007 Yamaha Drive Golf Cart; 4" lift, wheels/tires, rhino lined top, brush guard, 12" light bar, back seat, Rockford Fosgate Stereo, custom gunmetal gray wrap..it's a lot of fun and has been rock solid. I like gas...never have to worry about charging batteries.

What is the benefit of the 48 volt system over the 36?

I have owned both gas and battery, nothing wrong with either. Just like said previously, really your preference. I current have a Yamaha Drive as well and prefer the gas. I have taken it with us when possible with no issues, once they realize your cart is not a 2 stroke they really don't care, but there is always the exception.

You don't really. Maybe braggin' rights. There are some states that will allow you to license a GC for street use in low speed areas like 35MPH but they need to go faster than a cart designed for a golf course. They also need the normal lights, mirrors and stuff.
Our home state does not allow this but our snowbird state of Florida does. Since we can't bring the GC at this point, it won't be licensed any time soon.

We have a mini cart - a Cricket. It is electric and goes up to 10 mph. Fits in our Ram short bed and can be made to fit in the back of a SUV. Really fun.
