Hey All,
I just have to take a poll here.....
How many of you travel with your Golf Cart?
Do you have a custom cart?
Are most places allowing carts?

I just bought one to put in my trailer. I am getting it painted to match the coach and I am hoping most places allow them.
Mine is electric, with lights, and two seats.

Just curious.......

Love to take ours along but we drag too much other stuff. Having a toad is a must so some toys have to stay home.

Ours is a gas EZ-Go, mildly customized with lights, turn signals, break lights, some fake Cragar mags hub caps and a back seat.

Electric may be a better bet for you because I have heard of parks that do not allow gas due to noise. The newer 4 stroke don't make near as much noise as the 2 strokes did but rules are rules I guess.

I agree Mark, I have made some adjustments to bring more toys with us. I bought an enclosed trailer for the Harley's and golf cart or one of our cars and the golf cart. I think this is going to work out very well for us.
Time for more fun at the campgrounds

It depends on where we are going. If needed we can travel with a 1/2 size golf car (called The Cricket). It will fit inside the toad. In total I have a full size and 1/2 size golf car. We also have a scooter. All this is for the wife. What we take depends on where we are going. It will be the scooter or the Cricket as a choice. The full size stays at the resort where we have a lot.

When the time comes that we have mobility issues (and it will come) I will probably rent it where they deliver it to your site rather than buying it and hauling it. The math looks pretty good for that.

Until then, we will keep walking, and using the toad for errands and touring.

Tried to rent one in Florida this past winter. Almost impossible to find one available!

So it is a popular option to rent em. Just have to plan accordingly I guess. Maybe reserve one when reserving site. Have not rented one either but time will come. Like Dave - I think I'll take my chances. The trailer with car and carts doesn't have a lot of appeal for me. I'd want to upgrade coach first and as much as I hate to admit it, I can't have everything at once. So toad and rental will have to do.

On one of the other forums people were complaining about kids driving carts all over the park, way to fast, and could care less if they were annoying other campers. I think it was a campground in Myrtle Beach. Said they would never go back to that campground.

Perhaps this is specific to CGs that have full time owners of slots that add decks and storage sheds and all manner of permanent structures to turn a trailer into a house. In those CGs that I have been in it is out of control. I nearly got run over by kids in on case an in another they just blocked up the roads. Some go absolutely bonkers with their carts including loud stereos and wild lights.

While I recognize they will probably be a fact of life I have to deal with, I don't like them when they get so out of control. Unfortunately, at least in the CGs I have been in, they are out of control.

Love my cart just got back camping with it today. I have two one of which is raised up big tire painted like a tonka toy theme and the other in my picture custom paint to match my MH stretch limo with 14 inch wheels,kenwood stereo,carbon fiber dash,carbon fiber steering wheel this one is in my picture.

The Cricket works as advertised. I would make the same purchase again. We purchased it about 5 years ago at the Tampa Super show. it will seat 4 people. Go to Cricket Transport Vehicle - iRV2.com RV Photo Gallery and take a look.

It has two 12 VDC batteries (24 VDC system). It is made for flat to almost flat travel. The batteries still last a long time. I am very pleased with the unit.

So,e of the parks we stay at do charge u to bring in your own cart and some won't let u....
Either so u have to rent theirs or just no carts period....

BUT, if you get one of the street legal carts, they can't turn you down as it's just like a toad or car.

In NY it is not possible to register one even if you make enough changes to mimic an auto. Ours has everything with the possible exception of 4 way flashers and I can not find a way to register it. This may be due to the lack of 30mph & under roads.

I am not sure about Myrtle Beach but I am pretty sure I saw golf cars on the roads in S.C. In Florida if you jump through all the hoops your GC can be licensed. A neighbor of ours in the Keys had a plate on his.
