We made a list of things before we left of all the things that we needed to take. We still forgot some things. I started a journal of our trip. Just jotted down our experience and any little problems that we came across. We also made a list of things to bring the next time. Believe it or not we forgot a can opener. Neighbors let us borrow one. I plan on saving that list on my computer and print it out before each trip.

Due to local laws, we cannot keep our TT at our house, so our storage is not convenient to daily access. Our first trip out, we forgot cooking utensils they were in the garage, we just didn't pack them. Now we have a large storage tub in the garage of "things we need to put in the TT".

After 46 years of camping one way or the other, I think that forgetting something is a basic rule that is not to be violated. But as long as you can laugh and have fun, enjoy the this wonderful land, help others with that can opener, (loaned a young family in tents with knives, forks, and spoons once), and be safe, then all is well. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, and welcome.

We've decided to designate a small area of our garage to store things we need when we go RVing.

That's another good idea. Got one in the garage and one it the hall closet for food items I don't want stored in the heat .

I've considered taking the cat, but he doesn't adapt well to change...And I can't imagine him on a leash....

Our dear departed cat, Maestro, was allowed out on a leash. He'd go out and nibble on the grass and just sit in the warm sun. Our other cat, Milo, has never been out in his life. We're thinking of training him for the leash. But we're weary about how that's gonna go.
