Good grief, DW broke her leg!

Since June, my 62 year old wife has had 3 ER trips + 6 week-long hospital stays that included two shoulder replacements, pneumonia, flu and a knee replacement on December 5th. We did mange to work in 63 nights in the RV last year. She got tangled up in one of the grandkid's electronic game cords, fell and broke her knee 1" above the new knee joint. X-ray attached.

Surgery went well and when Cheryl leaves the hospital, it will be a minimum of 2 weeks inpatient rehab before coming home. Left leg has to stay straight in a brace for 6 weeks with no weight bearing at all, then months of PT. This restriction will make it really fun transporting her to follow up Dr. visits and the all-important hair appointments.

I just canceled the reservations for our 2 month AZ/UT/CO trip that was to begin 4/25 + several local reservations. I'm sure many of you have been through this or similar, but it sure is going to be tough not using the RV for many months. The great news is that it could have been much worse, she will be fine and we can resume our RV travels in the fall, with car travel until then. Always something, right?

I feel for her! I had surgery Friday on my replaced knee because of someone who ran a red light and damaged my replacement. Prayers sent your way for a speedy recovery. Hope to see you on the road.

That's bad luck for sure. My prayers for a quick rehab.

I had a partial knee replacement about five years ago and always worry about a fall directly onto it. I hope everything works out well for her.

Had my left ankle/foot fused Feb 8th and am in the 5th week of an 8 week/plus NON-LOAD Bearing......
But I get to bend at knee which makes it easier to keep foot off the floor

Having been in a full straight leg brace before I can sympathize with her predicament.

Best wishes for a complete and full recovery.....she deserves it!

Make sure she holds onto the rail getting in and out of the Rv. Had lots of friends over the years fall out and break something.

My late wife had at least 15 trips to the ER and ICU due to vomiting blood Turned out to be inoperable liver cancer. Only cure was a transplant which she got July 5, 2016.
But the new liver gave her GVHD (Graft Vs Host Disease) which destroyed the new liver and bone marrow. Nothing they could do to stop it.

Having had both knees replaced in the last year, I worry constantly about falling, especially in winter. Love my new knees but I am almost paranoid about falling.
Best wishes and a speedy recovery to your wife!

Just a future thought for anyone, but my best friends wife was laid up for over 2 months at the U of M hospital (Ann Arbor) and he asked if he could park and live in his RV in their parking lot until she could come home. Which he did at no cost. Certainly not the camping you expect, but home being over a 100 miles away, this helped alot. Glad surgery went well and a speedy recovery for sure.

Did the same thing at Cleveland Clinic for three weeks when my wife had two heart surgeries. Saved us a fortune in hotel and meal expenses.

You folks have a pretty good recipe for Lemonade! Wishing her a speedy recovery. That looks darn painful.
