Good Sam and PenFed

Not wanting to hijack the other PenFed thread, so I'll ask here. It's my understanding that the GS card will give you 3% on fuel. Can this be combined with the PenFed 5% I'm already getting? Has anyone had any experience with this?

Probably not. The GS Pilot RV Plus card is a revolving charge account - the fuel is charged to your Pilot account and you pay it off monthly. If PenFed is like other reward credit cards, it gives a rebate only for pay-at-the-pump fuel transactions. You can probably pay off your Flying J/GS bill with the PenFed credit card, but I doubt if PenFed will give you the rebate. You should call them and ask just where their 5% fuel rebate applies.

Gary has just about nailed it. You can only get the 5% rebate by swiping the Pen Fed card at the pump. You will not get it if you go inside to pay. So bottom line is, it works at the RV island, but not at the truck pumps.

I've heard some rumors that PFJ was going to start allowing Visa card swipes at the truck pumps, but haven't heard of any locations actually doing it.

You can use your FJ RV Rewards Card for a $0.03 discount per gallon of diesel and pay with your PenFed card at the pump to get the 5% rebate off your monthly bill from PenFed. If the Cash Pump price is $4.00 per gallon, the effective price after the FJ RV Rewards and the PenFed rebate is $3.7715 or almost $0.23 off per gallon. This is the best that I have found.
