Good Sam Big mistake

Been a Good Sam member for years. When renewing this Year I got a card that is suppose to get you 3 cents per gal discount at all Pilot stations. We are on our way to Florida and was looking forward to using my discount. Much to my dismay all Pilot stations only have gas at the front pumps that are impossible for me use, since I'm driving a Class A and towing a car. The truck pumps do not offer gas only diesel. Almost all the new stations have these pumps facing the building and very little room to make a turn with a large coach. One would expect Good Sam being part of the Rv industry would know about this issue. Has anyone else had this problem?

I get 3% not 3 cents for everydollar of fuel with my B of A mastercard. That's almost 12 cents a gallon. That's at every gas station.

It's intended to be good at Flying J, which is now part of Pilot. Most Pilot stations are geared to the truckers and don't have RV stations like FJ.
works for us, even in the car at the gas pumps at either station.

we literally just returned today from a 4,000+ mile, 2 month trip from NC to Texas .... as life members of GoodSam we get 8 cents a gallon and do use the card when it benefits us to do so .... as noted in the original post, the card isn't honored at all Pilots or Flying J's ... we stopped at a Flying J on I-85 Georgia Exit 149 (as best I can remember) where we filled a propane tank and when we went to pay for it found out they would not honor our RVPlus card .... by the way, the propane there was cheaper than the next Flying J we came to that did honor the card .... when we take on fuel at a Pilot we use the big rig lanes and see many folks with campers doing the same

Pick up a copy of the free Pilot/ Flying J Travel Guide. Its just under 70 pages and lists what services are available at which locations.

Many of the stations with the pumps installed the "wrong" way are still usable if there are no cars parked near the store. Pull in loop around and park at a pump so you're facing away from the building. I see a lot of A's with toads doing this.

Sometimes its a lot of work for a few cents a gallon!

On our trip down to Az. from BC through Washington, Oregon, California, we found the Loves truck stops had a better cash price on fuel anyway. I have a Good Sam card and the only use it has been is a discount at a few RV parks. I think it has paid for it self in that way but the fuel thing is a joke where I have traveled.

As mentioned already only go to the Flying J's. They have the Rev lanes and better am entities for RV's. I have never stopped at any Pilot stations.

We did a 5000 mile trip last July and used FJ and pilot stations and didn't have any problems with the locations of pumps and the card discount. We did have a DIRECTORY with us and we could plan our stops. This was for about 80% of our trip.
You just have to choose the one's that have the RV lanes.....

Costco America Express Card gives you 3% on fuel up to $4,000 and 1% thereafter. It works at any station and you don't have to know the secret handshake to get your discount. They send you a check.

TO ALL: The Good sam card get's you three cents off of the PRICE. You still get to use your favorite credit card and get their rebate.

Example: Pilot's gas price was 2.99, i give them my good sam card and the price goes to 2.96 and then I give them my CHASE credit card and get 5% back from chase. It's a double win.

What you say is very true. The one hitch is that whatever Pilot / Flying J price is, it's 10 cents cheaper elsewhere . Just check Gas Buddy !

X2 it only took me one trip after the Pilot/FJ merge to figure out they really increased their prices to cover the discounts. Gas Buddy is my friend.

Gas Buddy is great. . . . . but several times last year Pilot Flying J WAS the cheapest, including the above example. Take your time to check out all the prices and don't assume that they have to be .10 higher than everyone else.

Cheers
