Good Sam/Camping World Visa Card

I would guess many of us RVers use the Good Sam/Camping World Visa Card. With 5% cash back for Camping World purchases and 3% cash back for charges at RV parks, it is an attractive rebate program. I just found out that they raised their interest rate on unpaid balances (yes, alas, there are some months where expenses get out of hand and the whole balance cannot be paid off) from an already steep 14.24% to a usurious 25.24%! With many of us being elderly and often on fixed incomes, this can be a burden on us. I encourage anyone who might be affected by this, or even those who are sympathetic to this, to call the Comenity Capital Bank Visa customer care number at (855) 617-8084 and let them know of your displeasure.

Good Sam/Camping World Visa Card

I suggest finding a good Federal Credit Union. We have been with the same one since 1975 and have interest-plus checking, Visa debit and credit cards, cash back on charges, 8.9% interest (we have always paid balances monthly- no fee) and fraud detection that covers all losses without any wait periods. And we have never paid a fee on anything, (unlike most other CCs and banks).
GS/CW know the raise in rates is gouging, and they will not pay attention to complaints.
Happy Trails!

I would never touch one.

I agree on the credit union Visa Type charge cards. I have been using mine since the late 80's along with a debit card back by the same credit union.

What do you really expect camping world is only interesting in making as much money as possible. They probably get a kick back for pushing that card.

Check out the PENFED cash card. Several folks here carry it. 5% on fuel at the pump, lesser percentage for other purchases.

OP has issues with the card interest rates. What does penfed charge?

Voice your opinion by dumping the card!!!!

How often do you buy goods from Camping World to worry about getting 5% off. You can go to a dozen RV Retail websites and buy anything Camping World sells for 10% less.

Tried to get one while at the GS rally in Phoenix last year, they turned me down! But we had just bought the Magna so I guess they figured we were a bad credit risk!

I never worry about interest rates. I pay my bills on time, no problem.

None of the current interest rates are ethical as far as I am concerned.

If your paying 14.24% Interest to get 5% discount that don't sound like a real good deal.

I agree. Haven't paid any in years.

It varies, but 18%. Discussing balance cards and non-balance cards are typically two different things for obvious reasons.

Unless you spend crazy bucks at CW and frequent expensive RV parks, you're probably much better off with the PenFed card that's 5% at the pumps.

If you carry a balance, that's a different discussion, but sounds like you're still better off with PenFed.

Note, you don't have to be a member of the military to join.
