Agree. If the price increases, we're out.

I don't know if I read it right but I thought they said that the restrictions where lifted now, that they were good weekends, holidays, etc. Have to dig out the letter and make sure if I read it right or was just dreaming. Correct me if I'm wrong I can handle it.

??? I don't ever remember any of those restrictions. Sure you're not confusing it with PA or some other discount club ??

I have been a President's club member off and on for over 20 years but I only renew when I am making a purchase that will be worthwhile. Some are great but be careful as savings for club might not be worth in membership. They don't seem to mind if you just renew when making a significant purchase.

I just checked the letter it said no black-out dates. I guess that means everyday 10% off. Maybe I was mistaken and was thinking about something else. Oh well better luck on my thoughts next time.

I extended my GS memebrship and with it I was to receive $25 off of my next stay at a GS campground (That was 5 mths ago and still waiting ) however I do get almost weekly a notice that my GS membership is due. Sometimes you just can't fix stoopid ?

We use it enough when camping to recoup our annual fee.

As far as junk mail, just call customer service and ask to be removed from their mailing and email lists. I did it and haven't received anything from them in a year.

We just renewed online for 3 years at $60, so $20 per. If it were not for the fact that we have GMAC insurance through Good Sam (with a healthy discount) and Good Sam mail forwarding, I would drop them in a heart beat.

We had let the Presidents Club expire after our first free year ended, 10% off of grossly inflated prices wasn't for me. As far as the 10% off on sites, well that saves the tax sometimes. We always use PA or a public CG, Good Sam parks while usually very nice are still a bit pricey for full timers. But a good bet for families.

As far as the junk mail goes, they simply drove me nuts for a couple of years. We had gotten an 4 year ESP plan and the roadside, but we kept getting mailing after mailing from both trying to get us to join. Even thou we already had joined. I had to contact each company that GS sent our mailing info to and request that they remove us. As posted above, you can't fix stupid.

And the new mag is nothing but a big ad for CW.

Bob

Reading through all of you fine folks responses, it almost appears that I should have included a poll. It seems like many are not overjoyed with CW and/or GS - as I have been.

Purchases on line for supplies seems the way to go. I often use AMAZON, who are not always the least expensive unless there is free shipping for $25 up, tho CW is now shipping free for $50 and up - but their items are still too high, generally, even with that.

We had been in the P Club/CW for a bit, then a few months ago while in a CW, they signed us up for free with GS. Since CW is 50 or so miles away, anything we do get from them we get on-line. So I'm OK with CW.....for now.

We got an email from GS a few days ago saying we can get the Pilot/FlyingJ discount card on-line, which we did. We were going to get one on our next trip, but this was much easier. Anyway, I haven't seen much of an advantage for GS with only $10 off. We recently joined PA which seems much better....except some CG restrict it's use.

At this point I'm Ok with it....I can better answer this when we get back from Florida in Aprii.

Four years ago I tried GS for a year but dropped it after that. I tend to go to State/County/Federal campgrounds and the 10% discount is of no value to me. I did like the magazine but not worth renewing for just that.

Like anything, It's all what you make of it. Agreed CW prices are generally high, but about the only time we get anything from them is when it's on sale and generally we find it hard to bet the sale price, especially if it includes free shipping. It's not really a merging of the two as Good Sam bought Camping World. If you happen to be a GS Life member there are other perks and the new deal with Pilot/Flying J will be me 8 cents off per gal of Diesel, with pump start and pay at the pump in the Truck lanes. So with that discount and ease of in and out it's worth it to us.

We've only been RVing for a couple of years. CW was a great place to start looking for stuff for our 5er, but lately I've been looking in Amazon for better prices. GS has worked for us. We've more than back our money at parks with the discount. We also have the GS roadside assistance, which knock on wood we havent had to use. I know theres always better, faster etc but sometimes its just easier.
