I have a brand new Jayco Jay Feather 23RLSW, which comes with a 2-year end-to-end warranty. I also have AAA RV coverage, in addition to insurance on the RV itself. Good Sam is offering me an "Extended Service Plan", for what -at least on the surface - sound like a good price.

Have you any experience with this, good, bad or indifferent? Is this a good deal, or should I run away screaming in horror?

It all depends on what they are offering. Remember that if they are offering a 5 year plan, it's really only a 3 year plan, as your warranty covers you for two. It changes the price dramatically.

I believe that someone else actually administers the insurance... And agree - they're selling you a 3 year plan for the price of a 5.

Look at the warranty provided by the manufacturer and each of the components. I suspect you are well protected for the first two years. Hold off even considering an extended plan until the end of existing warranties. Do annual inspections as some components require them to maintain the warranties. If at the end of two years you will have some experience to make a better decision.

I found several other warranty companies that are much cheaper than Good Sam. One is Wholesale Warranties.

I'd shop around AFTER the manufacturers warranty is up. Sounds like overkill to have all that. www.wholesalewarranties.com is a good place to start.

I currently have GS on my '02.

When we upgrade coaches in a couple years, I will go with Wholesale Warranties.

They inspect your rig before they insure........I like that, if you ever have a claim, you have a base line.

Although I cannot speak bad of GS extended warranty, I have never had a claim to judge.

Save your money.....just my thoughts.

Which of the two inspect your rig before ?

I assume WW, since I too have the high deductible GS that rejects most claims but didn't inspect mine, just asked for money up front

Don't confuse Good Sam's extended service plan with an extended warranty. There are differences and should be researched before making a decision on one or the other.

Since my TT is new, Good Sam says they are waiving the inspection.

I'm not hearing any direct experience with the Good Sam Extended Service plan. Anyone?

I found a much better price with coach net which is just starting up a extended warranty program that is being serviced by a company that has been in the auto warranty bussiness. Mine was for a MH.

If you Google Good Sam ERS, or search this sites messages, you will find numerous complaints about the GS ERS. Furthermore, I would not recommend any service plan (extended warranty) for a trailer. There simply aren't enough covered high dollar repairs to make it a good gamble. You are insuring against a very small risk, and only getting 3 years of coverage anyway. By the way, they will still sell you a "new RV" policy anytime while your factory warranty is still in effect. They are paying anything in the first two years anyway. No need to rush into this.

Nobody requires an inspection on a new rig, and rarely one a used one if less than 5 years old.
