I did everything you said and even emailed the CEO about the junk mail. It took nearly 5 years but I believe it has finally stopped. It should never be that hard to stop junk mail.

Do you know for a fact that the bulk mailer will have to pay USPS for returned mail?

American's are wasting so much of our natural resources. If anyone can't get the mailings stopped then they aren't getting heard. Go to the top of the company and play the moral card. Please, do not accept poor service.

Bulk mail cannot be returned un-opened. I remove identifying contents, put the rest in the prepaid return envelope and stick it in the mailbox. Everyone wins, I get some satisfaction, the USPS gets revenue, the sender gets confirmation someone received their mail.

I have duct taped bricks with the offending stuff (potage will be paid by addressee) after a few of those MOST mailing STOP ,never asked what it would cost at the other end,but I would say it was more then they wanted to spend for a zip code always get even PLUS 1

We're Charter Life Time members, but I very seldom shop at the stores or online.
They sent me an email ad, found a great deal on a surge protector, added it to my cart. Went back tonight and found the item had gone up over $100 and it was gone from my cart. So, they lost a sale.

Yeah, you may want to check for an expiration date on the ad. CW stores honor online prices.

CW is a last resort. Service is done locally. Coach work is done by an independent that will talk and discuss the problem before giving a rash of BS and a high price. They apparently only hire kids that have little ability to diagnose problems. Throwing parts seems to be the solution. We keep the GS membership for camp grounds and that seems to take care of the membership cost each year. Other than that we use CW for emergency only. The hassle is not worth it.

One would think that the owner of CW would visit some of his own stores and start cleaning up the mess, rather than hopping around the country and creating all the drama he seems to thrive on.
I am still amazed that they can stay in business.

To the OP, I live about 20 miles from the Kingston store that you visited. I've been in there several times and have had mixed experiences there. I don't know about other CWs, but you wouldn't want to leave your MH there to get serviced... You'll miss the entire season. As the OP mentioned, every time I check out there, they ask me if I want to renew my membership. Doesn't matter if I have 8 months left. I don't think they even look at the expiration date before they ask. Must just be programmed to ask.

As for Marcus spending more time with this business, I totally agree. I watch his show The Profit weekly, and wonder why he is off trying to fix other people's businesses, when he really needs to concentrate more on the ones he owns now.

My last two cents involve their Good Sam Roadside Assistance Program. I am a member and have never used it. Last year I renewed for $79. My membership is due for renewal in March. In December, I recieved a CW flyer with a personal message from Marcus about giving us an early Christmas present by offering this program for a limited time @ $59. I read that the offer was only available to new members, but called Good Sam to see if they would renew me early at that rate. It was worth a shot. Not only was I not eligible for the $59 rate, but was told I am no longer eligible for the $79 rate. My rate to renew in March is going to be $109. As I stated above, I haven't made a claim in almost 3 years. I would think they would do anything to keep me, but I'm now talking to Coachnet. It really irks me when companys give a better deal to a new customer than one that has been loyal for a few years...

My kids bought me a Good Sam for Christmas--they asked what I wanted and the only thing I need is stuff for the new MH. Most of the things I want are not in the kids budget, but the membership was and I really appreciate it. I even used it right away to get a little table that slides under the couch--hold the computer next to me, but I digress. The Camping World in Ft Myers FL is pretty nice and the people in their were very helpful. As for asking to renew your membership... everyone does this. COSTCO, SAMS, even the freaking NRA is sending me emails every week to renew now and save some money. I have 10 months left on this year yet. I don't fault them, everyone is vying for money. Look at all the RV sites that are open to the public. I am sure manny people are reading them but not paying a penny for them. It is why there are ads on most sites--and most of the people that won't contribute are the biggest reason we are bombarded by ads. Finally, as for shipping charges. I ran a gift store for 3 years in a National Park-- 90% of my vendors all charged freight. While I coded the invoice to be paid for out of separate accounts from corporate, all my product prices reflected cost, plus mark-up, plus shipping. I also did shipping for my customers and I charged them exactly what my shipping company charged me to ship it plus a $5 charge for materials and processing (better known as shipping and handling).

Camping world was great .......15 years ago when it was the only place to get RV stuff at a better price, now they are so much higher than flea bay and amazon I stay away from camping world.

I am a charter lifetime member, so I never have to worry about renewal, and I do like the campground discounts and discounts some mom and pop RV stores offer to G.S.

I do however hate the weekly junk mail.

I get adds every day-I don't see what the big deal is with good sams, just dump it in the trash with all the other adds and requests.

I am pretty sure that 3rd class mail (of which magazines, catalogs, and mailers are all part of) are not returnable. The USPS will either put in the trash or the "occupants" mailbox. Most of these come to your house address as (ex) John Doe or current resident/occupant. So just trash what you don't want. Why bog down the USPS any more than they are now--they lose money anyway. You can go to the USPS and fill out a form to stop all 3rd class mail but that means ALL 3rd class mail so you won't get any. If one of your banks or some other business uses 3rd class you won't get their mail either. But you can always go paperless (electronic) with all of those. I believe you have to renew this no 3rd class mailings years as well.
