Good Sam's roadside assistance

Well let's hear lastest on how this all works. Good ,bad , and the ugly. Share your stories .. I just got 1 year of the Platinum roadside assistance. And free one year Good Sam's membership subscription. For good price. I changed from Allstate. Was it a wise choice . Any info is welcome.

Received a Good Sam's promotion in the mail for a first year low cost coverage. Less than a week later I drove my 38 foot Tiffin Allegro Red to a my grandson's Boy Scout outing. A good scout backed me in to a grassy spot. Now I should know better because it was late winter and we had rain the previous week. As I proceeded back I felt the rear of the coach start to sink. I immediately shifted to forward but it was too late. I was stuck big time, all the way to the hubs. It was on a farm and the owner had a tractor but I was afraid I was going to do damage to my coach. I remembered buying the Good Sam's protection. Called the number, they located a professional tow company. He arrived and told me I was wise not to pull from the axle with a tractor. Long story short he extracted me from the mire and put me on dry ground. The cost, 650.00. The cost to me, 69.00 membership and a tip to the driver.

Used mine three times in 2 years and am very pleased with the responsiveness and service.

First time was in Yellowstone with exhaust jammed under the rear duals. No cell service and Park Ranger called their service provider. Full cost of service (around $340 if I recall correctly) was reimbursed by Good Sam after providing the details - no hassle.

Second time was in Denver when daughter's car dumped all its oil from a loose filter. Tow truck was there in 10 minutes from the call, and again, no questions - no cost.

Third time was in Douglas, WY with a dead battery on the toad; again truck was there in 10 minutes from the call.

I don't expect that kind of response time in the boonies, but I'm pleased so far; the service has more than paid for itself.

Hauled my coach on a tractor trailer 375 miles from Watson Lake, Yukon to Fort Nelson BC last summer when I blew a radiator. Didn't cost me a dime. Very happy

We have used Good Sam since starting RV'ing in 2000! Only a couple of instances where we did not get the service we expected, but that can happen with any service. I just renewed for 3 1/2 years for $190. That's about $54 per year!
