Good solar installation places

For those of you who have had solar installed professionally and are pleased with the install, could you please give the name and location of the installer? In searching the forums I have come across several positive recommendations for AM Solar in Oregon, but there must be other good places. I will be travelling across the country soon and will at some point stop and get solar installed. I will probably not be going to Oregon this year. Thanks.!

AMSolar has a few installers listed on their web site, some are mobile and travel the country - you arrange an intercept with them. These guys know their stuff.

I had a local mobile RV repair fella do the roof work (mount the panels, combiner box, and wire runs) as I am physically unable to do the climbing. I designed, acquired all the components, configured, did ground reachable work, etc.

We used AM Solar too. Very happy with them. We actually had one of their mobile people do the installation for us in FL a few years back.

Solar install

If you are in the Quartzite, Az. area I recommend Discount Solar. Check out their web site. Very knowledgable and they carry top rate products. I am very picky about who works on my vehicles and these guys were very professional. Very happy with them. Monaco Coburg recommends AM Solar. Walt

Clearly AM Solar has built a great reputation among RVers by doing quality work. They must have gotten lots of business by positive word of mouth and comments on forums etc. Let that be a lesson to all dishonest dealers and installers who try to make money by doing shoddy work and shady business practices! I may try to get to Oregon after all. If not, I will check out Quartzsite Solar Bill.

If you are at all handy you can do this yourself and save a ton of money and have a chance of getting it done correctly. There are many examples of poorly installed systems from the folks that should know what they are doing. See my blog for a couple of detailed installations. You may surprise yourself and I am available via email for consultation and if we can intercept I can help as well.

Take a look at this site for information on a how to for solar installation. HandyBob's Blog Making off grid RV electrical systems work He and his wife live off the grid in their RV. He ends up fixing other installers mistakes. Even if you do not install yourself at least learn enough so that you can make sure the ones you get to do are doing it right.

While you are at it you could temper what is found on Handy Bob's site with the good information also found on Jack Mayer's site: RV Electrical

Solar Bill's installed my solar and I am pleased with the install. They also changed my inverter to a bigger one and it had to be rewired when it burned out.
