unusual scrubbing wear pattern that is called rivering or erosion.
This is a well documented issue when the front axle has less
than 11,500 lbs on it. The only solution is to try a different tire,
if you will drive more than 25,000 before the tire ages out.
Hummm, I have noticed that the MH drives better with a full fuel tank, which is directly behind the front suspension/steering module. I normally never drive with less than 1/2 tank.

Steve....I in no way was directing my statement toward you. I was just agreeing with you that I value Gary's opinion on almost anything he says....except the fact that rivering is a non issue. I will NOT run a tire that has a defect and starts to wear funny. The chomping, cupping and odd wear of rivering can cause a separation and could certainly cause a tire to expose cord prematurely.

Any portion of a tire that is not making the correct contact with the road will scuff. When a tire scuffs, it wears faster. Goodyear can declare until they're blue in the face that the tire is safe, right up to the point where it blows and then they deny knowledge of any issues.

Lastly, not only do the G670's have the rivering issue, they are also a hard riding tire. For me, once a tire has a bad wear issue, such as the rivering, it gets replaced. I don't take chances with tires.

I could agree if it was just GY defending their product, but tire experts from other tire companies, as well as independents, all say the same thing. And rivering/erosion is not just a GY issue or even an RV tire issue. It is a well-known form of tire tread wear on free-rolling tires.

Gotta love this bickering, seems the average are opinions with the tire companies claims of how wonderful their product is, very little truth in advertising, sort of like political statements.
People find out too late how their purchase has failed in many ways to provide what they wanted.
I have formed the opinion that Good Year is not a good choice for me, as much as I dislike French in general, I choose the Michelin due to being the best for me.
Do what makes you happy as others don't care what you do.

Apparently both Goodyear and Michelin have issues with their heavy tires, is one is to believe everything written on irv2.com. I've never read about a Goodyear tire blowing out from rivering, unlike Michelin's and their problem with sidewall cracks.

(Mod edit) I never said a 'rivering' tire has never blown out. (Mod edit) My opinion on this subject/question is based on reading irv2.com posts reporting tire problems. I follow standard operating procedures for OTR-trucks and run my tires at pressures to safely carry any load-up to GVWR, never to obtain a softer, smoother ride. Perhaps that's why I've never yet experienced a tire problem on my MH, dually truck, or car; I have experienced ST = special trailer tire blowouts, belt separation, tread separation, and internal failure, while running them at sidewall maximum though.

On thought on rivering. I haven't looked at everyones signatures but is this mostly on Monaco/HR coaches? Just a thought because of the terrible wandering issues we have chased. My fronts are showing signs at 25K miles. The rears look fine.

It seems to be on coaches with a fairly heavy steer axle but I watched these posts for years across many brands. The 295/80R22.5 seems to be one of the most affected sizes.

My front end is heavy. Very close to max weight on the tires. They are the 295's. Maybe some of those fat concrete truck tires would stop that. Could be a bit of problem with clearance though.

I ran into that when I went from 275/70's to 305/70's and a wider wheel. Went four years with no problem till at the Redmond FMCA rally and moved a few feet without airing up. Now I need to fix the flare where it broke.

GY G670s are not all made in the same place

Appears that these tires are made in different plants to different specs. That might explain why some folks have problems while others don't

I too have rivering on the front right tire on my 22k mile G670s. 2014 tires. I did some calculations. Check tread depths at rivering. The tires probably will wear out after they date out.
Not to start another war, but Gary RV roamer has been spot on with my thinking for a long time. I concluded this is NOT another thing to worry about.

Tires you had installed in 2006 & 2009 need to be replaced due to their age, regardless of tread wear. Try Michelins.
