Which one did you get. Some of them have a sun shade as an accessory. We installed ours right in the middle of the dash with a plexiglass disc and the suction mount. You could also mount it on your driver's side window.

Dashboard of what? Motorhome? Truck?

I've had a couple Garmins and TomToms in three different motorhomes and never had a sun problem. The dash is always well back form the windshield anyway. I usually mount mione close enough to me so I can reach them, which means toward the rearmost edge of the dash and away from the windshield.

Mine goes over in front of the Navigator, a.k.a. DW. It has a suction cup mount that she mounts to the pull out drawer in front of her seat. If there is sun glare she simply changes the angle or pops it out of its holder. I don't even look at it, don't need to.

Rocky: No help--- My GPS came with a smooth plastic disc, I had room on the upper left of the dash to permanently mount the disc. The GPS attaches to that with a suction cup. Within easy reach. Don't see much room there on an 07 Sportscoach.
There are several types of "sandbag" mounts that usually provide options ..but your dash is really curved. A "shade/visor" may be the best option....
