Grand Canyon North Rim Info?

We're in Williams, AZ near the south rim and looking for info on visiting the North Rim. Any info on campgrounds and "things to do" there appreciated.

We did the Grand Canyon Railroad trip and the narrated bus tour. Really enjoyed both. Today is our last day here and would also appreciate suggestions for today. Thanks to all.

Besides the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (which is wonderful) consider a visit to Lake Powell. There is a wonderful RV camp at Wahweap marina out of Page AZ and also beach camping at Lone Rock off Hwy 89 just into Utah. At this time of year Lake Powell will be busy, but if you have a chance to get out on the lake, it is an experience you won't forget...
Also Glen Canyon DAM has an interesting tour and visitor facility.

All the best on your tarvels!

If your still in Williams, did you try Bearazonea? Its a drive through wild animal park up there they were still working on. The north Rim campground is tough to get into everyone likes going there.

There aren't too many choices on the North Rim or even close to it, for that matter. We were there in the fall and we stayed at Kaibab Camper Village. It's the closest CG to the park that has full hookups. Now it seems to me that we had a 50 amp hookup but RV Park Reviews :: Jacob Lake, Arizona ( AZ ) - RV Parks and Campground Reviews says I'm wrong. You might want to verify this if you call. This CG is still 40 plus miles from the gate to the North Rim.

Ok, here's the real scoop. DW just stuck her head out of the shower and informed me that there was only 30 amp and water at our site. We had to use the CG dump station on the way in and on the way out but some sites did have sewer. We didn't because it was the only site left when we called and she distinctly remembers walking down the hill to the laundry.

Stay here
http://www.kaibabcampervillage.com/

It is a beautiful drive to the canyon. I usually ride it as an out and back on my bike in the summer once a year.

There are tons of trails to hike and bike. Also, Zion is right around the corner. I wish I was there right now.

Have fun,
Jake

We stayed there a couple of weeks ago with a 41' motorhome. Great place!

DW makes the arrangements and I drive. She had it all set up for 50 amp service!

Get up early enough in the morning (3:15 works) for the drive in for sunrise. BEFORE you leave the campground LOOK UP! The night sky is incredible at that elevation and darkness. Great viewing of the sunrise from Cape Royal. We were the only ones there! Also, buffet breakfast at the North Rim Lodge is good. It starts at 6:30. By viewing the sunrise at Cape Royal, the 20 minute drive to the lodge will put you at the lodge as the first wave of breakfast customers is leaving, so you'll have very little wait to get in.

Take care,
Stu
