We're talking about chassis & bearing grease... The Monaco owners manual offers no help except to say "lithium soap - water resistant - hi temp". No mil-spec or api designations. While looking at refills recently it was noted that not much info is included on the grease container. Some was red in color while another was black... Can these two be mixed? Any other words of wisdom?

Which means just about any Lithium grease... Lithium or lithium complex is probably the most popular grease base material. I would get one with Moly.. Molybdenum disulfide is a dark gray powder that is very hard and very slippery. It is one possible additive to grease, and moly is excellent for slow moving, heavily loaded points..

Greases with the same base are normally compatible. Mixing greases with a different base (Lithium, clay, calcium) may cause the grease to fail.

I use Valvoline Synthetic chassis grease that meets all my chasssis requirements, NGLI#2 GC-LB Lithium Complex EP (extreme Pressure) and it is moly fortified.

A long discussion of grease characteristics is here. Functions of Grease - Bob is the Oil Guy

Also a good site for info on oil, transmission fluid etc....

hope this helps
