Ok just wanted to share some seriously great information if you are new to buying a used or even new RV. We just recently went through the process and learned quite abit about financing a used class A RV. We knew that NADA was imp but many dealers stated that it was just the base price and did not include any upgrades or additional options on the listed " low NADA resale price. After talking with several banks and credit application companies ( much to our dismay) most banks will only finance 110-115% of the low NADA value.....WITH OUT ADDITIONAL OPTIONS INCLUDED!!!!! Basically the banks don't care if wood floors where installed or new leveling jacks replaced within 2 years the base finance price is the same. We learned this the hard way and felt the "upgrades that the coach had were worth the additional sales price but did not relize that the bank will only finance up to 110-115% of the low NADA value. This would have been a much better bargaining angle when purchaing our own RV!! We hope this will help others in the market!!!! Don't be afraid to stick to the low NADA price and remind those crazy sales men of the finance options!!!

If your paying low NADA, regardless of options, your paying too much.

Sad, but true. And, with diesel pushing $4 per gallon, I think the Class A market is poised to take a bigger hit.

With buyers commonly buying at wholesale to minus 10% in the last eight months, I'm guessing that rigs will go for 20-30% below wholesale, before 2011 is runs its course.

I'll agree with that. We bought from a dealer on e-bay and paid $18840.00 under w/s trade in (per NADA, still have the then current copy). That price included some, but not all options and that was over a year ago when fuel prices were under the $2.65 mark, IIRC. If I was considering a RV now, I would not pay anything over w/s trade-in on a used rig(with NO options) and it would have to be REALLY clean.

Good thing we are happy with the one we have...looks like it'll be with us a while with the fuel prices escalating. I keep saying that the money we saved will buy a LOT of fuel . That's my justification and I'm stick'n with it. Bob

So help me out here, just how would I find out what a wholesale price on a used RV would be. I have found and used the NADA guide that is available on the internet, looked at the low and high retail and original sales price, but no mention of a wholesale price. Is there a formula to calculate it?
I really don't know the answer....

Yeah, I got the same thing. I purchased the RV NADA twice when I was looking (around $100, IIRC), and it had the w/s - trade in price column along with the suggested list and retail price...something the on line version doesn't have. It's a little expensive but I found it invaluable in my search. Sure was FUN! Bob
