Grey water tank question.

I was wondering if I should plug all of my sink and shower drains when not in use? The reason I ask is after a four day camping trip the rv was parked at home and the next day I saw a huge dead Roach in the shower! Can they live in the grey water tanks?

I don't think roaches can survive in a grey tank, but they are pretty tough. How'd he not get flushed out when you dumped? How'd a huge roach get up thru the grate in the shower drain; mine has holes smaller than a pencil. Not to mention the p trap he'd have to swim thru....something doesn't make sense. I'd bug bomb that rig, kill all his friends and family.

I don't do it in my coach as generally speaking it is a closed system except for the roof vents.

However, when I leave my Florida house for the summer season I block off all of the sinks and put RV Fresh Water Antifreeze in the toilets along with a small amount of cooling oil on the surface to reduce evaporation.

I also stuff a rag into the clothes washer drain stand pipe.

While living at the house we have had large roaches (palmetto bugs to Floridians) come up through the drains while using the sinks. Scared the hell out of my wife one day while she was brushing her teeth.

I second the bug bomb approach to get ahead of the problem. We also use mouse 'sticky traps' in all the compartments and behind sink cabinets as an early warning system, and a regular bug spraying program (just like the S&B).
