Grime collection on slide toppers

After heavy storms, my slide toppers have collected some pretty thick grime and I wonder if it would hurt anything when taking the slides in. Should I clean it first? Don't know if a regular household cleaner would do it.

its from rainwater collecting on the topper. I would think some 409 or simple green and plenty of rinse water should fix it.

409 or Simple Green, water, and soft bristled brush with extension handle. Will come right off.

I will try the above method to clean top of the slide toppers. Another problem is I am also getting mildew stains on the underside of the slide toppers.

Dawn might do well.
Allow water to stand with ample Dawn and rinse

Mix about 1/4 cup of bleach with water, brush under side of awning, roll up and leave for about an hour. Open the awning and wash with soapy water, rinse well, and allow to dry. Should take care of your mildew.

I wouldn't / don't clean my slide toppers (or roof) with anything I wouldn't want on my paint......

Try some car wash soap in a bucket and scrub the toppers with a brush, and you won't have any harsh chemicals / degreasers running down the side of the coach when you rince it off.

You need something to keep the water from puddling! Take a look at this.
