How is temporarily parking your car in a neighboring spot such a bother? I have to park my car some place while I back my motorhome into a space and I certainly do not want to block the street while I do that. Parking it in an empty space is the most logical solution.

The logical solution would be to park the car at the park entrance car park , then take a pleasant walk back to collect it after setting up

I dont hold an empty site in sanctity for the person that may arrive. Then again I dont camp where there are many people so that probably plays into it. The last five trips I've taken I've been the only rig in site. I dont camp in grass fields with rigs lined up like soldiers.

And that makes a horse race! Reminds me of the constant harping about using Walmart as a stop on the way. Some hate it and look down on anyone who does it, others find no problem with it. Parking or placing a car in an empty spot sounds perfectly logical and thoughtful so not to block the roadway, others think ANY trespass in a vacant spot is scandalous.

My DW always put our toad in an empty spot while I was backing in ( rather than blocking the road ) and moved it to our spot soon after. We never had an issue with someone arriving at that exact moment. If they did , we would have gotten out of their way immediately.

He moved the truck, his dog didn't bite you, he offered to share his expertise with the campground hookup, didn't bug you all weekend and didn't need medical attention.... some would call that a good neighbor.

We do that too! I don't seen anything wrong with that since anyone pulling up and wanting that site can see what you're doing!

If you park your toad in an empty site for a few minutes while you back in your MH, that is one thing, and most people would not object.

But if you leave it there for hours after you are set up, that is another issue.

Yeah, but aren't you already blocking the road with the mh while backing into your spot?

Actually, we will use an empty spot to park the car while positioning the mh and will move it immediately after the mh is situated. But, if no spot is available, we just park it as close to our site as possible and again, move it to our site.

We would never "leave" the toad in an empty spot any longer than absolutely necessary. I agree with other, Grumpy had no right to use that spot and if I were the park manager, I would have charged him a days rate while it was sitting there.

After reading many replies here I must admit I think some of us will never look at our neighbors again with the same innocents of character we used to have.

Too bad about that.

In what posting did the 'op' (b22mundo) say, "he liked to spread out onto unoccupied sites?" In post #46 he asked, "Should I do the same and take over the adjacent sites? Is this a trick to get others to not set up next to me and look for another site?" Asking is not saying he liked to spread out.

I think many here need to learn TOLERANCE rather than labeling folks 'grumpy' or some other thing based on so little evidence or behavior.

We normally leave the door light (and handle light) on over night. A neighbor (opposite side of road and 1 site up) said that the light bothered him as he could see it from his bed window. I turned it off for him, but he should see some of the light shows I have observed at some camps!!!

A couple of years ago we were staying at the (don't rmember the name) casino in Laughlin Nevada that has the big RV park. It was close to summer and hot and we were the only RV in that row. There was a shade tree mostly in the spot next to us but overlapping our space so I parked my CRV under that tree. Probably 2/3's of the CRV was in the next spot and about 15 feet away from the paved parking slot. With all those slots empty an RV parked in that slot and about an hour later the security guy came by and asked us to move the CRV because the neighbor said it was partly in his spot. My spouse was upset - thinking the neighbor could have mentioned this to us rather than calling security but it didn't bother me much. What did bother me is about 6:30 the next morning a RV wash crew shows up and starts a gas pressure washer to wash that motorhome. I was not happy and expressed concern to the the RV park and the security guard shows up and has them shut down the gas pressure washer. Sometimes there is a payback. I was a grumpy old man when I had to move the CRV but all worked out in the long run. Hopefully the neighbor was also a grumpy old man.
