Guns Banned at State Parks

New Mexico Sate Parks:
I''ve read you are permitted to have guns in your RV but no ammunition.

Another article says, No Guns, Bows and Arrows or gas propelled objects permitted within 300 yards of a state park.

Firearm laws are very complicated for a reason. From state to state, federal, limited locations, type, size, concealed, open, etc etc. The list goes on and on.

This is a vast topic and it takes a specialist in the area to begin understanding it. You can violate the law just by passing from a state road into a reservation. Reservations have their own firearm laws.

As mentioned in other posts. Don't even think about taking a firearm across the Canadian border.

Americans may have the constitutional right to bear arms, but the laws have squeezed the where, when, what and how down to making the that right a joke to them.

Fines and prison are waiting for the person who didn't graduate with a law degree in firearm use.

I still can't believe the statute that says something like: You can have a weapon, but it is illegal to have ammunition.

Basically, firearms are not permitted in state parks. In case of a bear attack, use sticks and stones.

Do you think we live in a: Police State?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_state

You might be surprised to determine whether a nation has become or is becoming a police state.

The best thing to me is not to put anything in the RV that would break the law. In the many decades past, I have never needed a firearm.

So if your house is within 300 yards of a state park in NM and you have a firearm you are breaking the law? Doubt that will stand up under scrutiny of the courts.

Don't ask, don't tell.....as for having it in you RV. Just unload it and separate the ammo from the fire arm. Put the fire arm in a small safe or locked box.

These two websites are the best option for those traveling with firearms:
NRA-ILA ::

Canada does allow some firearms, even handguns if the documentation matches the law. Specifically to compete in a nationally recognized shooting event:

For that matter, just drive PAST one of those parks - within 300 feet - with a firearm in your vehicle, and you're a lawbreaker...

If you think a cop is going to protect you, your in for a shock, they are nowhere to be found unless you are driving over the speed limit. They are not going to be shaking down a silver headed person driving their Motorhome, unless your in Mexico. Put whatever makes you happy in there and don't worry about it. If you do need to shoot someone make sure to wet down the cadaver real good with pepper spray. Officer, I sprayed them with pepper spray and they just kept comming, sob, sob, I had no choice but to drop them like a bad habit, sob, sob, oh dear me !!!

Now you can relax !

I may be mistaken but I believe this may their way to crack down on poachers. In Colorado you can conceal a loaded handgun in your vehicle but you can't have a loaded rifle or shotgun or even a strung bow outside of a case in your vehicle.

Hunting rifles, shotguns and archery equipment may be taken into Canada by obtaining permits. These may be obtained at border crossings or online. Handguns are totally illegal. Tasers and bearspray type devices are also illegal.
As of February 2010 it is legal to have firesrms in US National Parks but illegal to discharge one.
Keeping up with rapidly changing state laws can quite a task. In Arizona for example there in no need for a ccw, anyone without a felony conviction may legaly carry a handgun.
