Hand wash or power wash?
Hello All
The RV is in need of a good washing ,,have washed it down a few times but nothing serious .
I want to give it a good wash and wax good for the summer. What do most of you do ,,hand wash or take it to a car wash/truck wash ?
Heard good and bad things both ways ,any ideas on waxing ???

I have always hand washed my MH. Twice a year I polish and wax the MH with orbital machine. I read sometimes that some have stated they waxed theirs in a day, can't figure that one out. I usually take me a good week to do the job right. This spring I compounded the roof and then waxed it, that alone was a day and a half.
The complements I get on the MH I contribute to the effort I put in on maintaining the unit.

Hand wash is best but if you go to a pro.. Consider Blue Beacon.. They actually TRAIN their people.
The major danger with a power wand is that you can blast right past seals and soak the inside, as well as the outside.. Blue Beacon should know how to NOT do that.
But hand wash is still best.

I don't trust those truck/RV washes! I prefer to do it by hand. Of course, it doesn't get washed very often!

Since buying the new 5th wheel, I have hand washed it after each trip. On a previous unit I would run it through a truck wash close to the house. Last year they switched from the pressure washing to what they call "stick wash" or hand wash. Other truck washes may also just do stick washing. At $1.25 per foot they do a great job and I'm sure if the old bones don't feel like washing 40 feet, I'll be using the truck wash again.

Hand wash and wax it removes all the dirt.

Hand wash! NO power washer will remove the road oil without also removing decals and paint. I've tried- with my black dually truck. Any paint chip will get larger when hit with a strong power washer; and the road oil was still there.

I tried the waterless car wash cleaner on my 40' motorhome and car and was very surprised and happy with it. Goes on easy and wipe off easy. Cost $58 to do motorhome twice.

These systems can serve more than one purpose. They produce deionized water, which is also approved for flooded cell batteries. I added a Pro Fill battery watering system to my house batteries and made a garden hose connector with a water vane. Topping off my house batteries every month is as easy as hooking up a garden hose!

I do a hand wash, and I wax it about three times a year. I have gotten a complete wash, including the roof down to about 5 hours to do it right. When I wash/wax it takes me about 14 hours total and I usually get it done in two days, three at the most.

My vote is for hand wash. A power washer can lift decals, striping, paint and caulking. You can get away with using a power washer IF you're really careful not to hold the spray too close to the surface, but why take the chance?
