In the end, to 'pare a phrase' you will always offend some of the people all of the time, and offend all of the people some of the time but you will not offend all of the people all of the time!
I am ASD autism spectrum disorder aspergers, and it caused problems in my life for 60+ years and cost me a masters degree, but I own it and it is part of who I am.
Labels may be offensive to some but you have to use them to convey meaning and to help folks find you, so my feeling is don' sweat the small stuff and make it as inclusive as possible and as clear as possible.

When I starting this thread I was thinking it might just be just a few posts then die or fade away.

However due to the many pages this ran seeing an unknown need, I just want to thank everone who posted here both pro and con as I trully believe in helping others, as others have helped me.

Again...Thanks to each and every one of you.

God Bless

X 2 Well done one and all.
Now to figure out how and if it works on this old 3G iPhone and on the laptop. I'm sure it will become clear as I explore a little more.

Again many thanks to all.

When starting my second vocation which was working with Adult with Developmental Disabilities, I was surprised at the arguments I watched at both state and national training seminars and professional organization events. Most arguments were over labels.

Regardless of a dictionary or some college's or government's definition, there will be someone somewhere sensitive to a label. At times they have a valid reason, when you think of how society likes to group, classify, title and label, then by some arbitrary and capricious standard view these groups as less than other groups.

Big arguments even erupted over service providers using the using the term "client". Some felt it was degrading to those they served, while I felt that it indicated a higher level of dedicated service to be give that person. They had rather use the term "individual", which to me indicated they provided no more service that I get at a fast food restaurant.

Whatever term is used, handicapped, disabled, physically challenged, not everyone will feel they fall in that category or label. The main thing is not to loose focus of sharing information that help one RV-er adapt to a situation and enjoy the freedom afforded with an RV.

Handicap Forum

The needs to be a Handicap Forum!!!

It should not be based on how may postings there are or if it is a special needs as defined by the ADA or anythhing else.

If a person has physical need of any sort then it is their special need.

There are forums owner, chassis, engines, Class A, Class C and many others.

Irv2 is very large and it would be impossible to search all of the forums for handicap type information.

There are many more RVers that would welcome a Handicap Forum than the irv2 administration is aware.

You might not need the forum but there is a need for it.

Maybe it is what was meant.

How Does the Handicapped RVers Group Work

I added the group. Under Community - I see Groups - I see the new group. I click on it and see threads. When initiating a new thread from the group page - I'm asked to select from the forums - and list of groups isn't included. How do the threads intended from the group get there? Moderators move them? Am I missing a step?

BTW - I believe I saw 11 members including Janet currently suscribed to the group. The group is there - so spread the word. Just not clear how threads find there way to the group.
Thanks.

I can't figure out how to find it. I would like to invite someone to look in on it but I don't know how to tell them to use the drop downs near the top of the home page to find it.

Any suggestions?

Don
