Hello , new to RVing
Hello, we are looking to purchase our first rv. I have found this site very useful in our search. I am retiring in a little over a year. I'll be 56 and want to see the us in rv. I think I've narrowied it down to a Newmar Dutchstar 4018, I like tag and comfort drive. The tiffin bus 37 ft model or an entega aspire. Any options on part time living in any of these? Advice as to what to look for ?
Thanks
Tom

Tom;
As you have already learned, there is a wealth of info available to you here just by asking. We have a great group who like to help when they can. Good luck on finding the right rig that meets your needs and expectations.

There will be lots of input on this one.
Folks on here have a wealth of knowledge and experience. I know I have learned a great deal from them.
You can't go wrong with a Newmar. Tiffin builds a fine coach as well. The Entegra has a huge fan base on here.
My first choice of the ones you mentioned would be Newmar. I have seen many that are 8-12 years old that have held up well to lots of miles and full time living.
Units we are looking at now (used) are:
Country Coach
Newmar
Monaco/Holiday Rambler/Beaver

Hi toneil7163,
Welcome to iRV2. By my signature one would think I am biased. However, until the coach proved itself I would make no recommendations. After 10 years, 99K miles and living in the coach for 7 months of the year, I can recommend Newmar. They hold up very well. Routine maintenance and typical replacement of worn items is all this coach needs.

When looking at coaches look at storage capacity and carrying capacity. There never seems to be enough room and if you take a lot of stuff you have to consider the weight. If you get a tag axle it would almost ensure that you could carry the weight.
If you plan on doing a lot of boon docking look at battery capacity and the potential for adding solar. This would reduce generator run time.
Pick a floor plan that you like and that is livable. Think about having to stay 3 or 4 days straight in the RV due to rain.
Good Luck

Welcome to the RV life! We are still in the weekend/2week vacation stage in our life and looking forward to longer spells on the road but for now we LOVE our '99 DutchStar 3865. It was lovingly cared for when we bought her and we have continued keeping her in tip top shape. No problems to speak of, just expected maintenance. We will have no problem upgrading to another Newmar. Fantastic service when you call them and just overall a solid coach for us first timers. I think your going into a much newer model is awesome. Just absorb everything you hear on this site. These guys know their stuff and have helped us tremendously!
