Hello to all

Hello, so happy I came across this forum while browsing the internet. Wife and I just bought a 1987 Holiday Rambler Aluma Lite XL to travel with the kids before they can't stand being around us. Got it in a private sale for under 5000.00 with 72,000 miles on it. Question to the forum is this...
Rear camera is not working it's an INTEC - Monitor works fine just no picture. Can an aftermarket camera "Plug and Play with the existing wires/monitor. Looking for an easy fix.

Best bet it to call or email these guys with your question. I have found their customer service second to none. http://www.rvcams.com/

Where are you all from? Have you done much camping before this? Our kids are all grown up now, and we are camping with their kids, our grand kids now!
BTW,

You can pick up and install a wireless system fairly cheap. Best of luck!

Welcome to the forum.

You are joining a good group of folks with good info to share. I would start by getting in touch with the manufacturer.

Enjoy the adventure!

BTW,
We live in Western New York about 25 miles outside of Buffalo. Both my wife and I grew up camping, her in a pop up, me in tent/cabin. When we married the first thing we bought was a used pop up. We out grew that pretty quickly and purchased the Rambler in March. Two big trips planned so far this year - One to the Smokey's and one out West. Thanks for the link I'll give it a preview.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new rig! I've never had to replace a rear camera but I hear that there are some good wireless ones out there! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

You could just get a fairly cheap camera and try it with the existing wiring. It just might work.

When I removed the old camera I realized it used the same wiring colors as the new camera. I did have to cut off the old connector and splice in the new though. So yes, you can use the existing wires - I did.

When I had to install a new camera & monitor, I could not use the existing wiring. One of the conductors was corroded for the entire length of the existing cable and probably broken somewhere. I couldn't get any continuity reading on that wire.
