HH100 anyone?

Anyone going to be in Wichita Falls, TX this weekend for HH100? I'm going to try and suffer through all 100 miles. Of course, this year looks to be cool with no wind. It might not be too bad.

It's going to be amazing. I am probably doing the Pyro 75 mile because I have never been through the airbase. This is the year to ride the 100 if you haven't done it before for sure. Good Luck !!

The weather was incredible. ...100miles on a bicycle is still going to have some discomfort. ...lol

Was a great day. First time in years there was no tough South wind so the last 25 miles was almost pleasant.

I hope you guys enjoyed your stay in my backyard! As a resident of the wichita falls area I have something of a bad taste in my mouth for the bike race, but they have made a few changes over the past few years that help with that.

Enjoyed it very much.
I suspect a few of the businesses enjoy the crowd but not many of the residents. I did get to boondock with my new generator for the first right behind the AG center. Like many of us I'm always trying to think of others when it comes to the generator, etc. The temps Friday night were borderline as far as needing the AC. Would have been nice to take the humidity out of the rv. I just couldn't do it with people in tents only 15 yards away. Saturday after the ride we used AC, took showers and even a little nap while we watched golf. Then trekked back to OKC. It was my riding partners first time in an rv. He actually said, " Our setup this weekend couldn't have been any better!"
It was a great weekend. Thanks for sharing your town with us.

Finished the 100 in 4:59 it was great weather. I agree that the disruption to locals must be very inconvenient but I love how so many line the entire route cheering us on. We stayed in a hotel but had to leave in the middle of the night Saturday to drive home because of the cricket infestation. My wife hates them.

I don't know what the route was this year, but in the past about 90% of the race was not in wichita falls, or even wichita county. So those of us in the neighboring county receive virtually no economic benefit, but all of the incinvenience. In years past HHH weekend meant the entire route would be littered with all kinds of garbage, water bottles, etc, and as a TXDOT employee we would spend the entire next week picking up trash along the route. They race committee did finally start getting volunteers together to start going and picking up trash on Sunday. Of course nothing was done about the bicyclists just discarding trash everywhere...

My camping rule follows over to other areas of my life; Leave the area better than you found it. This often means picking up after others, fixing an extra ball mark or two on every green, etc.

I saw some trash while riding but I can assure you it didn't come from me my friend. I think some of the guys think they are in the Tour de France and everyone can just pick up after them.

There is a guy about 10 miles north of where I live who has a big barn with a large clear area around it. He allowed it to be used for years as a rest area. He finally had to lock his gate and won't allow them to use it anymore because of how badly it was trashed. I used to work for the highway dept. And 1 year after the race myself and a coworker drove the route through Clay County and picked up 2 contractor trash bags of reusable water bottles. It took the contract litter getters 2 or 3 days to pick up the trash along the route that year.

Those water bottles cost $15.00 each so I promise they aren't dropped on purpose. I also keep up with my trash but unfortunately there are always those in any group that are too good for that.
