Hi to all from Ontario
Hi:
My husband Larry and I have owned popups since before we were married 26 years ago. We decided in 2010 to move up and purchased a new R-Vision hybrid C17. One thing we do like about it's small size is we can store it in the winter. I also love the comforts and less work in putting in up and down as compared to a popup.
We took the hybrid to Prince Edward Island in 2014. It pulled well with our Sierra. We had a mishap at the Quebec Border when a distracted driver almost ran into us when he was texting. My husband had to swerve around this guy coming into our lane and when we got further on our trip we realized this "almost" accident caused a spring to break. That meant we were stuck two days in a hotel waiting for repairs and we missed out on our stay at Quebec City. We did get to PEI and all worked out in the end. We intend to camp in Algonquin Park this July.
I am interested in learning how to maintain my trailer and want to start the caulking on the roof. If any of you experienced RV owners have any pointers or suggestions on how to do, it would be greatly appreciated. The last thing I would want to happen is a leak!
Best advice I can give at this point: Watch out for those texters. They can be or are as bad a drunk drivers!
Take Care

Hi Heather & Larry! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!
I would use the EternaBond 4" tape and the Dicor 502LSW self-leveling sealant on the roof. Use the EternaBond tape around the large openings such as air conditioners, power vents, etc., and the sealant around smaller things like vent pipes, antennas, etc. You should also run a bead of the sealant around the edges of the tape after it's down to seal out the moisture!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Hi Heather! Glad you did not have a collision because of those texters! We are also from Ontario - Northern Bruce Peninsula and we bought a used 5th wheel. We spent 2months away on our first trip this year and loved it. Spent a month in Arizona - and will go
back again -longer this time I hope! Be safe and have fun!

Welcome to iRV2.
We did the east coast swing in 2010 , and got chased out of NS by bad weather , my bucket list has a return trip to enjoy Cape Breton and the Rock. DW's relatives are on Stony Lake , and we really enjoyed that area when we passed through.
Whenever you have a question , ask it here in the forums , you'll get the info you're after.
BTW: My latest purchase , for my coach was a dash cam; evidence , if I'm forced off the road , and I've come way to close , I want evidence , for the police and my insurance company, don't need them questioning my ability behind the wheel. It's not as bad as Russia out there ; YET; but it's coming.

Just Googling 'RV Roof sealing and repair' will yield more info on the subject than you ever wanted to know. Good videos too. Congrats on the new R-Vision.

Thanks for your kind words. We plan to go back east and see Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. I would love to see the American east also as many Canadians rave about it.
