Its time for us to take action against the big conglomerates. Quit the griping and lets start monthly stoppage of gas. We always forget each time the prices go out of bounds that next time we will stop this. March 1 lets quit buying Shell Gas. The following month pick on another company. When enough of them get the message that we are tired of the scam, they will come to terms. We haven't tried any of this yet to see if it will work. So let's get to work.

We need people with a backbone to go after the over speculation gas inflation and we need to expand our fuel sources (i.e. Nat Gas), end boutique fuel gas monopolies, and drill baby drill!
Amen to that!

Quote:
Oil is a global commodity, unlike the way it was in the past. Price is set by global oil futures, not how much we drill or refine in the US. With Iran trying to be a big player and the Europian financial problems we are tied to all of that if we like it or not.
And we should become very untied to them! very quickly! I do not will not ever consider myself a Global person over the U.S. The U.S. comes first and everybody else takes a number.

One big question I've always had, why aren't we getting some sort of oil repayment for our operations in the Middle East? Should be!

back on topic though, Probably only take one long trip this year with the rest short and close to home.

This is somewhat true, however, when the current person took office gas here was something like $1.69/gal. today it's $3.69/gal.

Obama has already stated that he thinks our gas prices are to LOW, that he wants to see our gas prices more in line with Europe's. I'm thinking he's not going to be pulling on to many strings to force the prices down.

I'm secretely wishing that gas skyrockets past $5 a gallon. I believe that's our only chance, however remote, that we can HOPE for CHANGE in our nations energy policy beginning in the 11th month of this year.

I don't think so on the $1.69 per gallon. Show me some confirmation figures on that price for a gallon of gas at that time. I still remember .paying well over $3.00 in the spring of 2009, and over $4.00 in the summer of 2008. I agree with Steve & Sal, administration has not much bearing on cost of gas.

If you really want, I can dig around in my Conoco Phillips Statements for December 2008 into January 2009 where I was paying $1.509 a gallon for RUG along the Oregon Coast.

Through most of 2009, gas stayed in the $2.xx9 range till towards the later part of the year when it crept up into the low $3.xx9 range.

Now, the caveat is, if you're in California, or the East coast where your taxes are far higher, then your fuel prices will be on the higher fringe ends vs being closer to the average.

As of today, regular unleaded here 'north of the border' hit $1.30 a litre, $5.91 a Canadian gallon & $4.92 a US gallon. Me thinks this is ooonly the beginning. The housing market bubble bursting was a major factor in the economy tanking in '08, but think back to the price of fuel then also. Looks like the fat ba*^#%^s are going to drain us all dry once again! A few other things will be cut before the MH is kept at anchor.

cb5300. How else are they going to be able, or they think, to cram all the electric cars that everyone is eager to churn out, down our throats? They won't sell themselves, so the powers that be will tilt everything in their favour and try forcing them on us.

You will know when gas is high enough. RV's that use to hide in camp for "a little while longer this year" stay 365 days a year because of it, and pay double the price for a loaf of bread. Give it time--it will get to that price.
