Of the over 16 years of RV'n, I've only checked my trip costs once, and that was on my first MH trip, and even then, it was just for gas for the MH and the sand rail. Can't even tell you what it was, other than I don't want to check it again. It doesn't make a difference, I'm still going.

They have us where they want us. We've been used to paying the higher price now for a while so I don't expect it to go down. As far as our travels, for now I think it will be about the same. We hope to even get out West again this year.

When we bought the motorhome gas was not a concern and still isn't. We've worked our tails off. Wife 34 years one company, me 15 years one company, 30 years self employed. I'll go just to see the smile on my wifes face, and hopefully we'll enjoy some years together before something happens to either one of us. My only hope is that my wife gets the enjoyment out of her remaining years she deserves, and has worked so hard for. If it's one weekend a month, then it's one weekend a month. But we will go! 48 years together this year and the best are coming, gas prices will never change that as long as I can still drive.

The wife & I will be leaving on a 10,000 mile cross country trip as soon as we clear up some medical issues. I can happily say that I've sold the travel trailer thereby increasing my gas mileage from about 8mpg (towing) to 32mpg by using the 4 cylinder family car. At $4 a gallon the fuel savings alone amounts to $3,750 - at $5 a gallon it's $4687 saved. That $$ will go a long way paying for $100 a night motels vs. $30-$40 a night campsites (or more, depending on area)

Now, anyone interested in a gently used tow vehicle that also costs me $1000 per year to insure? As others have said in the past, RV'ing certainly is not cheap.

I think I'll just lighten upmon the accelerator and dropmback to 60mph to make up spm of the difference. Like others have said we cant let it dictate our lives. If it hits $10 then I will panic.

As long as gas is available, we'll be camping. May be closer to home if it gets above $5.50, but we'll never stop camping.

Just did a 2000 mile round trip to Phoenix last week. I slowed down to 65, took it off cruise on the hills, and that saved a ton of fuel. You can more than off set the price of fuel by driving a little more conservative. I actually saw 9.1 MPG. I didnt think the read out would go that high

What really amazes me is the lack of outrage by people. High fuel cost will effect everything and year around- not just for your trip. An extra $1 per gallon may not stop your trip but will have a big impact on eveything you do.

Since a lot of forums don't allow gun, religious or political talk, a lot of the outrage that would be said, isn't.

We're fulltimers and we have changed our plans for being on the road. This year we will stay longer (a month or so) at a location instead of moving on every few weeks. We usually run abot 62 - 65 MPH for best fuel economy.
