Question Hitch recepticle on front bumper

A coworker just picked up a Hummer H3, and she asked me why it had a hitch on the font end, and I could not even think of a reason. Anyone have an answer.

Bike rack, hitch hauler, also often used like that in boat yards to move trailers around - much easier. Had one on my Class C (E450) for the first 2 reasons... Very very handy.

If it is used, many out West put them on to put boats in the water. It is easier to see and to direct them into the water. They reverse the process to pull it out.

A front-mounted receiver is quite handy, as noted. It also places great strain on components that were not designed for moving a trailer, unless you purchased the snow-plow option.http://auto.sears.com/Front-Mount-Re...4761-10623.htm

Winches are available that slip into hitch receivers, so a front receiver allows the use of such a winch for a front-pull situation should the Hummer owner ever decide to do some off-roading - with the appropriate pre-wiring, of course.
