The Atwood model G6A-8E appears to be a "gas only" water heater, which
only needs 12VDC and propane to operate.:

Your water Atwood heater owners manual will tell you for sure.

My "porcelain lined" Suburban needs a anode rod, however most Atwood WH have an aluminum tank and need no anode.
