How Big is Your Turkey?
Have your Thanksgiving traditions changed because of your RV experience?
- Which traditions have you kept?
- How many traditions have you jettisoned?
- Are there traditions which are new now that you RV?
And, how in the world does one eat a chestnut? Just wondering.

Have dinner with my kids and then head south, hope I do not get snowed in in Washington state. I used to cook, but turned it over to my daughter.

Our home had been the Thanksgiving focal point for our rather large family but we sold 15 months ago to full time so that's over.
Last TG we were staying at Buckhorn Lake Resort in Kerrville Texas and discovered a tradition which many have. The resort puts on an annual TG feast. They supply the turkey, gravy and potatos and everyone else brings a pot luck side dish.
What an amazing sit down Thanksgiving dinner for 350 people! The side dishes were outstanding!

We've kept none. Now that I don't have my mother calling the shots, we can do things "our way". We aren't that big on the huge meal etc. either for T-day or C-mas.

We prefer to eat a nice but scaled down evening meal. I am not a morning person so getting up in the wee hours of the morning to cook a turkey (which I really don't care for anyway) isn't appealing to me. So the roaster oven will sit in the shed, unused, for another holiday.
T-day meal this year will be in the evening (works out pretty good since my daughter has to work on T-day until 3 pm). We are having chicken breasts stuffed with brie and cranberries (Sam's Club), my country style green beans, homemade cranberry relish (sugar free), Mashed taters and chicken gravy, croissants (Sam's club), Apple/cranberry/pecan pie & pumpkin pie (both from Sam's club). The package of chicken breasts comes 8 to a package so we will probably be having again for C-Mas (my daughter loves these things and they usually only have them around the holidays). Ditto for the cranberry relish. It's pretty good and I bought a huge package of cranberries so I will make again for C-Mas.

Greenburg Smoked Turkey, just can't be beaten! I drove to Tyler, TX last Friday and picked it up right at the smokehouse. The aroma is absolutely fantastic!

12 pound deep fried. Get away from house and paving. Cover the propane hose with tinfoil. Slowly lower a very dry, unfrozen turkey on a cord from a ladder over the fryer into the oil.
YUM!

My wife would say her turkey is 5'6" & about 190#. 
But what does she know?

How do you get the turkey to climb the ladder?
Actually, MY turkey has 4 doors and says Norcold on the front.

24.7 lbs.... Lots of people will be here at my youngest sons house, all my daughter-in-laws family. At least I'll be with one son and one grand-daughter.

We are having 2 Thanksgiving turkeys this year. The first was with our Coachmen camping group ( the food was wonderful}. The second will be at our relatives TG day. As for as the original question "How big is your turkey" All I've got to say is "Size realy doesn't matter"

2 Lbs Turkey breast this year With most of the regular trimmings Just scaled back. Since it will be just me in the RV this year. Normally I would deep fry a 15-20 Lbs Bird. I will do the normal Pecan Pie.
