How can i remove an old state sticker map?

If its a decal you can use varisol or kerosene to remove it. Rub lightly and use a stiff plastic spatula to scrape with.

Try WD-40. It worked great on some double sided carpet tape I was otherwise unable to remove.

Carefully, use gasoline. Just a little on a rag and of course out in the open and in a breeze. Test a small non visible area first.

Auto parts stores that cater to the body repair shops stock a 3M eraser wheel that goes in a drill. They work like magic. Be aware the paint will be a different color under the decals because the sun has not bleached the area under them and they leave a shadow that is almost impossible to get rid of.

Try Turtle Wax Label and Sticker Remover. Available auto parts store and big box stores. Will not effect paint

Unfortunately it may not be possible to prevent any paint damage if it's been there for any length of time. The rear cap of my motorhome had one of those massive decals on it when we bought it. I told the dealer he would have to remove it as a condition of the sale, and got that in writing. He initially agreed, but called me before I took delivery and said they could not remove it without damaging the paint and that the dealer would not pay to repair any paint damage. I told him the deal was off. He called me back in an hour and said the dealer owner agreed to take care of any paint damage. They ended up repainting the top half of the entire rear cap. The MH was only one year old at the time.

I have done a quite a bit of decal removing on our previous older Class C that was left out in the sun and weather for many years. I tried several ideas that have been posted here with no luck. I finally went and talked to a old friend that had a body shop. Told him my problem and he didn't say a word but walked over to his tool box and handed me something that looked like a air high speed die grinder with a funny looking tan wheel mounted to it. He said try this with a little explanation on how to use it. What looked like a die grinder was much slower speed about like a 1/4" electric drill would be and was made especially for those wheels. It pealed the old decals so quick and easy I was amased. The wheels are made of a material like what a paper ereaser is made of. All that was left was some adhesive in spots that Goof Off took right off. I wore out three wheels before I was done but I can think of NO easier way to do it. He told me they were what all the body shops used.
