Our Arctic Fox is in Winchester getting repaired. The floor in the bedroom slide is bad due to water getting in. I called a few days ago and ask how the water got in but they don't seem to know. I got this rv in Nov 2003 and in a few months it was back at Northwood for the slide cracking the sidewall. We have used it a lot but when not in use it stays under a shelter. I am not unhappy with Northwood as I think this can happen with any brand. There service has been very good.

Water is not only the killer of RV's but homes as it will always find a path to enter both. There are ways to limit damage from water by during regular inspections of all seals-windows-and even what water got in when closing the slides.
We have closed the slides in rain storms and we check and clean up all water that got past the seals, that includes what is on the side of the slides.
Again check your windows as that maybe the most likely area.

The seals were good until one side dropped and tore the seal. The guy at Northwood is not sure how water got into. When I pick it up I hope to find out more about it. I was wondering if a awning would help ? I have had to bring it in when it raining.

If your slide seals are leaking a slide topper will not help.

I have a 03 coach and I have had to start resealing the seams on roof wrap to sidewall plus seams from sidewall to front and rear end caps. The sealent will have dried out by now and its due for replacement. Your rubber seals that travel on roof of slide and down the sidewalls as it moves in or out need to be looked at for any tears or coming out of retaining strips. When your slide is open check to see if the rubber seal is flush against the slide sidewall. If there is a twist in it the twist will allow the water to get behind the seal and do damage to you interior floor of coach or slide. You can use the loop end of awning rod to remove twist by running up behind the seal. When that happens going unnotice its maybe to late and you will have a damaged coach or slide floor.
