Yes you will need a 50 amp 120v breaker installed in breaker box to run coach on 50 amps..
NOPE! 50 amp RV circuit is 240 volts 2 pole breaker. there is 240 volts at the Main breaker. You just can't access 240 volts. 120 volt left and right of the main. Some higher end MH and 5er's can and do use 240 volts volts dryers and induction cook tops.

30 amps is 120 volts.

if your house used to have a 220v appliance somewhere (hottub in my case) you can re purpose its breaker and wiring.

mine had a GFCI breaker and a LONG heavy gauge wire.

That is exactly how I do, all I need is to power the Xantrex inverter/ battery charger, and power the refrigerator when we are packing for a trip.
However, one must be mindful of the extension cord wire size and length, to avoid voltage loss in excess of 3%.

Been living at the same house for 34 years. I initially installed a 30 slab with sewer and 20amp service. The RV's have grown over the years and I've added another 15' of slab, but the power has been sufficient. I keep my coach plugged in 24/7/365.

I live in my tt, so it's plugged in 24/7. Learned the hard way about using adapters and extension cord from the house - fried connections and constantly popping breakers. Called in the electrician to run a 30a line from the garage panel out to the corner of the garage where the tt's parked in the driveway. Now it has to be moved (thanks city, grrr) so I'll be calling the electrician again to put in another line from the house to it's new space in the back yard. Oh yeah, also have to pull out the front fence and put in a big gate. But, that's another story . . .

if you try and draw more current than what ever the 110 extension cord or the breaker can handle its going to kick off. if your going with a 50 amp receptacle you will need a 50 amp breaker.
Jay D.
You will need TWO 50 amp breakers for a 50 amp RV connection. One for L1 and the other for L2. The circuit can potentially supply 100 amps total or 12,000 watts.

50 amps called a 120/240 volt 50 amp service. Exactly like a S/B 120/240 200 amp service.

30 amps is 120 volt 30 amp service.

I bought a 30amp RV style electric box off Amazon and then hired a contractor to run the wires and install a breaker in the home's main fuse box.
Leave it plugged in all the time when home.
Moving soon and when we get settled in the new location I will do the same again. But in the mean time I will be running a long extension 15/20 amp cord out to the RV.

we had a proper 50-amp pedestal installed by a qualified electrician. when the MH is at the house it stays plugged in 24/7.

I just plug into a 20a circuit via a dogbone adapter. I have no need to run the AC or microwave at home.
