Getting ready for our second trip, this time it's to a campground where we might need to take the RV out during the day for a little while, how do you show that the site is not vacant ? Seems like most things you could leave, could also walk off ...

I did some searches before I posted, but I didn't find anything.

Most places assign sites, so the office controls the sites.

I have seen signs at CW saying "Campsite Occupied" get one or make one and leave it in the site; or perhaps a traffic cone at the site entrance?

However these days sites are assigned mostly even in public campgrounds.

How about some of that yellow tape that police use? We have a roll of the BRIGHT pink plastic tape... Both avail. at Lowes/HD

Weve actually used our triangles put piece of tape on them that says occupied worked perfect ranger came bye said awsome idea .

As rarely as we stay in campgrounds, I have found that most of those that do not assign sites still have picnic tables. After you pull out, one of you gets out and slides the table to the front of the pad. It has always still been there when we returned.

I use "Flag Tape". Same as surveyors use on their stakes. It's cheap. I use the same stuff on my luggage when I fly. Flourescent colour.

Various ways depending on the site and CG.. I may leave wife's cooter (locked) on site, or my bicycle (also locked to a tree) or other stuff.

I may simply leave my 2-step ladder with a "Site Occupied" taped to the top step.

All depends on the park (I use that last one at South Cove (Seneca, SC) on Wed's. since I do not do a lot of outside setup there).

I often see just a chair in the middle of the entry end of a site. Most places have a post and clip for your receipt next to each site. At some point you just have to trust that someone won't steal your chair. Also a mention to the campers next to you that you will be away but will be back might help.

X2 - I leave the oldest chair I have and I have never lost one yet.

We usually camp at primitive sites with no reservation option. Try leaving out an inexpensive tent. I like our 4 person pop-up tent that is super easy for one person to set up and tear down, but even a $5 tent from a yard sale would work.

You can store those things that may "walk' if in plain site. We like to use our tent as a portable utility shed.

One of the things we like about our trailer, camp stays set up while we are away for the day. An "occupied" sign on a stake or flagging tape would work well.
We saw a good one last weekend. The TC in the next site returned to find a family picnicking at his table, the jerk drove past the office and took the first empty spot.

As soon as the truck stopped and the driver glared they packed up and left.
