Speed limit towing in CA is 55 so I keep it around 62-65 when I can. Outside CA like to keep the cruise around 72-75. Eats a little more fuel but I didn't buy my RV for fuel mileage.

well i wonder do they think they can stop and most 5th wheels are rated max.65 they are entertaning to watch if they blow out if you wonder where the dumasses are watch them go

The posted limit usually suffices for me where my rig will allow. Usually 60 is about top end. After that, the rig gets a little too bouncy for my likes

This is a motohome thread, so the only thing being towed is a dinghy. As for mine, that gives me 5 axles of breaking power, more than enough.

About 62mph (2500rpm) is the sweet spot with our motor home. Occasionally 65mph. Otherwise 55mph when indicated. With the car, I'll drive the speed limit.

I was already retired when we bought our current rig, in other words, in no hurry. I assumed the same 60 - 62 that our gasser liked would be good for the DP. I could rarely break out of the 6 point something for fuel mileage. Now we've got 20k plus miles on the rig and I've since learned that the Cummins/Allison likes 63 - 66 better. That puts cruise rpm at something around 1700. It downshifts much less in rolling terrain and I now will see 7 plus (the plus depending on weather and terrain) mpg.

I'll generally set the cruise at 65, unless the limit is less, but no more where it is higher.

55mph... I'm not retired. Not 40 yet. Only time I go over that is if I need to catch the idiot with a 40' coach and a 30' stacker trailer going 75mph in a 65 with a blown tire throwing sparks all over the road. He didn't know it but his trailer was fishtailing as well. He was a serious accident waiting to happen.

speaking of blown tires, I hear that blasting a steer tire at 75 is very different than at 55...

Ever notice anyone going faster that you is an ******* and anyone slower than you who holds you up on a 2 lane is an *******? HHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! Whislt I stroke my bellybutton length grey beard. Greyhound busses used to run close to 100 and we owned a Peterbilt that would do 91. Would run all day at 75 -80 depending on which way you crossed Nebraska, Ebnd was faster.

Baloney! I've seen hundreds of trailers, auto, some big boats and enclosed racing type trailers being towed by Class A's. Where have you been?

Yes, you are right...My comment was in regards to a 5th wheel being towed at this speed. 5th wheels cannot be towed behind a motorhome, but certainly trailers can be.
