How long did you RV fridge last before it needed to be repaired or replaced?
If you got it repaired, did the repair hold up?

I've owned 6 RVs and never had to replace a fridge. The oldest fridge was 10 years. Had to fix a cracked door hinge on one, though, but I did that myself.
Current fridge is almost 8 years old and never had a problem of any sort.

First one was 12 years old when we traded MH for a newer one- no problems. Second one was 8 years old when we traded it for a new MH- no problems. Third, and present one, is 7 years old- no problems, except for the Norcold recall, which is working like it is supposed to, I hope.
I'm not sure about the "residential" refrigerators. They are just getting started in RV's in a large volume. Time will tell as to their reliability and longivity.
Good Luck,
Indiana Journey

When our refrig failed, at 15yrs old, we chose to replace it. That was 7 yrs ago. The original was an obsolete model and the rebuilt coils were rare. Replacement gave us more options to have what we wanted. I did the old removal and new install.

The original Dometic in our '88 KIT 5er is still going strong - the OEM Norcold in our '88 Winnie gave out at 22 years - replaced the cooling unit, doing fine so far after 2 years.
Dunno why these later units seem to have so high a percentage of early failures - the technology sure hasn't changed any - poorer materials maybe?

My Allegro is a 1988, probably original fridge, so what's that, 23 years? I keep it on auto, 24/7/365 (altho I've only had it 180 days so far...), and I'm hopeful.
am
ps the ice cubes are more recent....

We had a 1979 Silver Streak with a Dometic in it and it lasted 29 years.
Our 1989 Avion is still on the original frig...22 years.
Others have not lasted so long.
