How many people know about the damper lock spring?

Having to repair my range hood exhaust fan ( thanks to help from iRV2 members) I have to wonder how many folks know about the damper lock spring?

See the second page down item #13.

This gismo is tucked up inside the range hood and stops the damper from moving. You will have to bend over the range and look up into the hood to see it.

I suspect that the previous owners didn't know that this existed and never released it allowing the damper to open. The damper being plastic warped and I suspect dropped far enough into the fan to stop it and burn out the motor.

I'm a rookie RV'er but this system leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.

So I am writing this post as a heads up to others like myself who are not aware of the requirement to pull the spring when using the range hood.

Hopefully it saves some one a repair.

Thanks, Ken. We don't have a range hood, but I'm sure many people can use this info.
