Spotted this morning on Hwy 27 just south of 192 in Central Florida.

Looks like the driver missed the turn for 192 east so he decided to do a U turn using the median.

Sorry for the lousy picture but it was taken through the windshield by the co-pilot.

Making a foolish decision like that deserves a hefty tow bill.

Could it have been a blow out that forced him into the median? We may never know, but sure hope it wasn't a decision to just make a u-turn.

Midniteoyl makes a good point. I enlarged the photo and the marks do look like skid marks.

Looks like tire marks, but wouldn't skid marks be longer if he had a blowout or flat. He would have needed much more room to stop. Makes you wonder though. D

Looks to me like a lot of people did a u-turn by the marks in the median just this side of the coach. May have been traffic accident that backed up traffic and everybody started crossing the median. He almost made it and with a little more of an angle I think he would have. I think the "skid marks" near the officers car are shadows from the sun.

Nobody would of tried to turn around like that would they? A parking lot scares me, let alone a divided highway. Must be a newbe.

I doubt a tire failure would put them at that position between the lanes.
Looks like that driver rolled the dice and lost. I'll bet money they now wish they had continued to the next exit. The tow bill buys a LOT of fuel. On the other hand, I've also done some things that in retrospect seemed pretty stupid.

For some reason, the 270 degree turn from southbound US27 onto US192 east goes unacknowledged by some GPS systems. The turn shows on the display but the GPS remains silent (mine is one of them) until it's too late. I feel bad for the driver if he missed his turn, but US27 isn't limited access, there are several opportunities further south to turn around. If his destination was WDW, he could have even just continued to I-4 eastbound.

We first saw this on our way north to do some shopping. The incident had only happened a short time before hand. Just a pickup truck was in the median with the motorhome.

I did not see any skid marks on the road in the northbound lanes and the tires looked relatively normal.

About 1 hour later while headed south, no pickup truck but the police had arrived.

Once again, no skid marks in the southbound lanes.

I really felt bad for the driver.

It doesn't really matter who's fault it was but it sure was about to be an expensive mistake.
