A new 1973 Open Road class B conversion van. Recirculating toilet, 12 volt compressor refrigerator, all the trimmings. Used it as second vehicle also.

Let's see,,, I was 25 and my wife 18 when we got married. We took maybe 5 tent camping trips, the last having a terrible time when a storm blew in around 3 in the morning. I remember waking up with the tent itself laying on my face, water pouring in. That was it for us, threw the tent in the garbage and proceeded to look for a hard sided camper. Ended up buying a used 1977 Minnie Winnie class C (orange and yellow stripes) on a Dodge chassis. That was about a year after we were married.

p.s. I don't ever plan on going back to tent camping.

29 yrs. In '74 bought '62 Voyager shown at left.
Think it cost $6,000.
Was an iron worker, Local 1 Chicago.
They paid me lots of $ and could take time off to travel as I wanted.
There was lots of work then.

I was around my late twenties when I bought my first tt. I had several of those over the years, and bought my first class A at around 46.

2005, Used FourWinds class C, I had to sell after the big D (and I don't mean Dallas)
I got the house but after 4 surgeries in 2yrs, I decided to go full time in a 26' RLS TT But soon realized that I hadn't be to a laundry-mat since I was 18yo.
4 months later I traded up to an American Eagle 40', then just traded to an Allegro Bus 45' with more than I need soloing, just like this post! Lol.

45. I remember seeing Winnebagos when I was a kid, thinking how neat it'd be to have a house on wheels & wondering if I ever would. Well, now I do.

I was 66 (still am) when I purchased a 39 foot 2005 Winnebago Adventurer.
I retired in January 2017. My wife an I decided we wanted to see more of our great country but we also wanted to take our dog with us. So, we found a great class A motorhome and took the plunge. I was nervous, at 66 there is a lot to learn. But you only live once and there are no do overs. So far we have made only one major trip covering about 5000 miles. It was an adventure for sure. Learned alot along the way. Met some wonderful people and saw some beautiful country. We had a few problems along the way but it all added to the adventure.
Looking forward to our next trip.

My only regret is that I did not to this 40 years ago. But like they say, better late than never.
