How to post big pictures here??

I'm trying to find out if there is a way to post a 3.4mb jpg file picture on this forum. The attachment tool says only a 2mb jpg can be posted. I'm an old school mechanic without much IT knowledge so if anyone can enlighten me I will get my wrenches out and give it a try.

You can post your images to https://imgur.com/. Get a link and paste it into your post using the "insert image" button in the toolbar.

One thing I do is open the picture in "paint". Hit the resize icon. The horizontal and vertical settings will show 100. Type in 50 in both columns and hit return. Now make sure to hit the save icon before you exit. This will reduce the size of the picture file. You can bring it down to 40 or 30 if you want the file size to be smaller.

I'm not understanding "paint" my picture is in a Dropbox file . I don't see a "paint" option for opening the file.

You didn't mention whether you work from a Windows PC, Apple PC, or Iphone/Ipad or Android phone/ tablet. The simplest answer will probably vary by the system in use.

There are many image resizing tools available but most of them are focused on the image quality, resolution or pixels rather than simple file size. They all can reduce the size, but it isn't always easy to figure out how to get the size you need. A couple, though, let you specify the desired file size and the tool figures out how to do it.

Here is one free, online (web-based) tool that can work with size parameter only. Upload your image file to it and give it the resize target and it produces a file that can be saved (downloaded) as a file of the desired size (or less).

You can become an iRV2 supporter and that gives you a gallery that will scale the pics for you as you upload them to your gallery. Then you copy the IMG code and paste in your post.

I've found the easiest way to post pig pictures on any forum is to open it on my computer and then take a screenshot of it. The screenshots are small in size but don't change the look of the picture one bit.

No problem. And that was supposed to say big pictures, not pig pictures!
